So is ICM XXX landrush one big scam?

So I applied for a few xxx domains in Sunrise AD and asked them why they didn't stick with their promise to let me know the outcome before Nov 8 and got this reply:

"all Sunrise applicants will be made aware of the status of their applications on or before December 6th. There was an exceptionally large number of applications received and not all have finished processing yet."

December 6th is also the date on which Landrush ends en general availability starts.

So why would they want to extend the decisions on Sunrise till the end of Landrush?

Why o why?

Simple...

They want to make the domains that were applied for during Sunrise and should be reserved by now, look as "available" to people applying for the same domains in Landrush.

I checked on Bulkregister and you can still apply for any xxx domain, never will you get something like a "already taken" or "not available" message.

I tried a few of the domains I applied for myself and that should be rewarded to me because I'm the only person owning them as TLD domains already. I can apply (and pay) for any of them. It's even still possible to apply (and pay) for gay.xxx

http://www.almostthelastpage.org/landrush_scam.gif

They're lying about other things as well. I needed their support after the registrar did something wrong during the Sunrise process and the answer I got from ICM support totally conflicts with what they state in their own policy and terms as published on their site.

The whole xxx thing is really cool but ICM isn't,they are deceiving people on purpose only to get as much as possible money of of this. GREED is the word again. Why does this biz attract so much scumbags?

IF they stick with their Sunrise policy I don't have much to worry about, those domains I applied for should be given to me. But I feel sorry for the people who are going to pay for the landrush thing now, and are not getting informed honestly about the availability of the domains they are after.

My advice to everyone: wait for the general availability period. By then they won't charge the non-refundable application fee anymore so you can't get screwed by them financially. I'm almost sure that the price for xxx domains will drop very soon and fast.

I don't know if it is a scam, but one thing is for sure, it falls right in line with monetary rape!

And the people behind it are nothing but scum, in my opinion.

As I explained in a previous thread, there was a delay in processing Sunrise applications, however, ALL names applied for during Sunrise, whether they are ultimately successful or fail, were taken out of circulation for the launch of Landrush. Unfortunately, not all registrars and/or their resellers operate real time with the registry check server.

NO registrars should be taking Landrush applications for names that are not available, and if they are then they should give 100% refunds.

While I don't think that acquiring your domains should be an issue - if you will email them to me at the address in my signature, I will gladly check on them and follow up with you.

I think a post about how Landrush works is in order, but I wont hijack your thread for that.

DO email me and let me look into this for you, please?

Absolutely shocked by this news.

MrCain 11-15-2011 05:52 PM

Wait. After all the lies ICM registry has told in the past, you still decided to buy domains from them and now you are surprised they fucked you? Lesson learned hard way, but better late than never.

There is no landrush. All the good domains have been taken even before the sunrise period.

I now checked with another registrar and yes the domains I applied for in Sunrise are there ticked as "registered" and gay.xxx is indicated as "excluded".

So the problem is with Bulkregister.

Since they (eNom) are a large registrar this practice really should be stopped because a lot of people are going to be victimized by this.

The other thing I wrote about is no longer an issue, it resolved itself. So I'm not going to put anymore time in it... I just hope the rest of the registration process will be flawless and that I can enjoy conversions through my 15 xxx sites before X-mas :1orglaugh

Best sarcastic reply of the thread :thumbsup

EukerVoorn 11-16-2011 01:51 PM

Well if I have 4 sales on each site at least I earned back my investment in xxx... anything that comes after that will be profit. The most important thing will be Google's policy on this... are they going to give xxx domains higher rankings for porn related searches? If yes, I'll be king :)

Sorry to disappoint, but there is no sarcasm there at all. We've been extremely pleased to hear about the successes of our current .XXX domain owners, and of course we wish nothing but success to all of our customers.

Does google give .info sites higher rankings if they provide information? Of course not. You fell for the scam.

XXX is gonna be a nightmare in search engines. Everypornsite has XXX in his meta tags.
And many affiliate website have .XXX in their urls already.

I dont think many pornmasters will link to .XXX either you may have a hard time finding resellers for .XXX domains.

no surprises that someone who thinks markham knows what he is talking about would say something like this

yes mate, google is going to give more weight to .xxx

quickly now, get a loan on your scooter and buy as many as you can

edgeprod 11-16-2011 08:23 PM

... was this somehow in debate? I'm confused.

It is the registrar, if you try other sites its different. But like many said they picked all the best names before anyone had a chance.

What you said, bulletin chat board addict?

I'm sure Markham and I made a lot more money than you did.

As for Google's policy on XXX..... nobody except Google knows. If xxx isn't going to work, I lost 1200 euro. Which is a good day's sales for me and therefor easily forgotten. If I was poor and my biz so bad that I was considering stopping with porn, I would not have bought any xxx domains and be bitter about the ones who are able to buy them. So I can understand where you're coming from :1orglaugh

Yes I already found that out myself, AFTER I started this thread. I'm a moron :winkwink:

I was able to get my hands on xxx versions of our most important .com domains. There's some more I would like to get but I'll wait with that till general availability opens. If there's one thing I hate it's auctions unless I'm trying to sell something :winkwink:
