What´s the point with bots?
 

I run a few forums and keep getting these 'bots' or whatever it's called that register at my forum, but I don't understand what the people behind these bots has to win from register at forums?

Can someone explain?

When a bot registers at your forum, they are looking to collect more privileged data on members, and find a way to spam them if possible

they add massive amounts of spam with links to viagra and other stupid stuff in your forum. So they get money obviously.
Sometimes they add some trojans in their posts as well just for fun.

Calling bullshit on the "trojans just for fun" and HOLY SHIT SIG MAN.

Edit: wtf are alexa stats going to prove anyways? First of all they're inaccurate and second a higher reach/rank for your sites means it's becoming more saturated. Which isn't a good thing. Not that your sites are over saturated or anything.. lol.

creating links in forum profiles.

What is a bot? A physical person? Or someone who runs some kind of program that creates accounts and posts automatically in forums?

I think bot is short for robot, indeed making it a physical person... :2 cents:
