none of those old game ever worked like they did on TV, fucking Operation and Mousetrap were major disappointments. GreenGhost.
I never had the attention span for games like Monopoly, Clue, Risk, Masterpiece. I will give some props to Battling Tops, at least that worked basically how it did on TV, Rockem Sockem Robots also was a bit of fun til I broke them. The slot car racing stuff was pure crap, not ready for primetime when i was a kid, cars just flew off the track. Worst toy/game of all time hands down was Electric Football, the one you plugged into the wall and the field would start vibrating causing the players to move, of course they moved in all different directions. Best game/toy of all time - any table hockey game. |
Defender was definitely challenging.
Galaga was my favorite, i had the cocktail version in my house, plus Tron. Centipede was also cool. bloop bloop...................bloop bloop..................SPLASH! Frogger!:thumbsup |

That was the BOMB, of course, I loved original Sim City (The pc version) where you could build up that city then spend hours printing out a monochrome low res map of your city with a dot matrix printer and carefully match up the edges to make a huge wall poster... that was the shit. Drew |
Wait, totally forgot the best game EVER (EVER)
Crossbows and Catapults.... you would put rubber bands on these little launchers and you were SUPPOSED to try and blow each others castles up... well, you could put liek 60 rubber bands on one of these crossbows and the little pucks would reach WARP SPEED and break your brothers leg... good fun :) check out how much they're going for now! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=11 81 |
My favorite toys were:
Lincoln Logs ViewMaster (regular, projector & the film strip type) Little People (farm & garage sets back when they were just round wooden figures) 12" G.I. Joe (talking bearded one & clean-shaved blond) Hot Wheels & Corgi (espcecially the super-vehicles: Batmobile, Supermobile, Spider-car, Capt. American trans-am, Hulk van, Batcopter, etc.) ColorForms (I had Star Trek, Batman & a few others; I've been trying to find a monster one that had three levels with Dracula, Wolfman, the Mummy & Frankenstein but I can't remember the name of it since mine has long since disappeared --- I think my mom threw it away finally) Shrinky Dinks Rook And a few others that I can't rember right now... |

I hated the Etch-a-Sketch. I could never draw anything good witht that thing. I like playing Operation but I really didn't like the buzzing sound. It was like it was "announcing" your mistakes.
http://www.sluttyoldbroads.com/c4.jpg But Connect Four ruled! And so did Battleship. "I sank your Battleship!" http://www.sluttyoldbroads.com/battleship.jpg |
When I was a kid we picked up a Pachinko machine from Japan.
http://www.zebrawashere.com/fun/pachinko.jpg Everynow and then we would have to buy more metal balls for it because we were always using them for slingshot ammo. I killed gopher with a Pachinko ball once. |
When I was a kid in the late 70's I had every Star Wars toy there was. I would play with them for hours. The Millennium Falcon was my favorite for along time and then I found a ship that was cooler even though it was sadly not from Star Wars. Anyone remember the Eagle 1 ship from Space:1999? These things were almost 3 feet long! I could fit a shitload of Star Wars guys in them. The front section and the rear engines would come off to make a smaller ship. I got a lot of use out of mine.
http://www.zebrawashere.com/fun/1999eagle1.jpg http://www.zebrawashere.com/fun/1999eagle3.jpg Another cool toy was the Six Million Dollar Man. He had a hole in the back of his head that you could look through and see a little target. http://www.zebrawashere.com/fun/6mdmeye.jpg Of course you couldn't have the Six Million Dollar Man without his enemy BIGFOOT (who was played by Andre the Giant!) http://www.zebrawashere.com/fun/bigfoot.jpg Remember the Bionic Man had some kind of fake skin on his arm that you could roll up and see the bionic parts underneath? You could also buy special arms and legs to swap out for different missions. Toys these days just seem a lot lamer than they did back in the 70's |
I also had a wind up evil kenevel my dog chewed his head off the first day i got it

Subutteo was the bomb. I also remember the intellivision ~ dungeons & dragons (I think) was excellent where you could here the monster & have a dump when it finally chased you.

This post rocks :thumbsup
