Who did you sent an email and from which page or program ?

andrew1009 11-17-2011 06:36 AM

I've noticed similar things too. If I search for something, next thing I know relevant ads according to a previous search keep popping up EVERYWHERE else I go online even if the site is completely unrelated.

welcome to the interwebs.

If you used gmail, then it makes perfect sense.

it's very creepy - and only going to get worse.

probably pretty effective though, i was looking for form builder software a couple of weeks ago, found a site with a nice product - ever since then wherever I go on the web i am seeing banner ads for that software, they know i have some interest in it and are trying to close the deal with me. won't work on me though, total opposite, that shit annoys me and I will buy another form builder piece of software just because I'm not going to send them the message that I appreciate them snooping on me.

google takes keywords from its mailserver to display ads that will be relevant to you

alot of large ad companies now are tracking what you do to display relevant ads but imo it is worthless

for example....I recently got a neat receipt desk scanner
i had some questions so i googled it ...now all the major sites i go to ( fox news , cnn , yahoo , gossip sites etc... ) all are displaying ad's for me to buy a neat receipt scanner. Ive had them for about a week now straight ...totally wasting their ad dollars on me

Yes, Google will read/scan your email for keywords to show what they call relevant ads

yes but they didn't pull that from your email... it's not like you emailed a buddy taking shit about what ever and causally mentioned you need *** and then wham!! all the ads pop up..

just sent this email to a buddy, with no mention of anything oin the subject: thinking about buying some horse saddles, and maybe a bridle as well.. this is just a test to see if Google reads my emails.. I'll know if ads for horse bullshit pop up on all the web-pages... lets see if ads start popping up
