I just signed up for a facebook 'page' for my website. I've got a crappy url with numbers. I want a fancy short url. These assholes do anything to force you to give personal info. I need to give my mobile phone number if i want a short url. "If not, please try to register your username at a later time." Well fuck it then.
Where's the explanation why, and what later time? Jesus christ what a crappy site. Everything is in unclear menus and weird shit. How can the stupid masses have ever chosen this horrible site as their main attention whoring base? Totally not user friendly.

that's what so weird about it. It's absolutely not userfriendly, but all the people who are a technical swear by facebook. How the fuck did that happen? It doesn't match up. It looks and navigates horrible.

Mobile phone number for a page url?? Used to be you needed 30 likes on your page before you could get the shorter url, did this change?

If you can't understand why Facebook is popular or why it is such a huge company then I don't know how you could ever sell anything. Facebook is not MySpace and hasn't been for a long ass time. There is nothing "unfriendly" about shit 10 year old kids can use.

FB is like myspace in comparison with G+ in terms of UI and UX, although i haven't logged in FB in a while, they want to verify my account with tel or DL copy, which is insane - i only played occasional poker there.

another thing is that i couldn't sign op with my info@mydomain address. Initial message was 'this is an invalid email address' and thats it, at first i thought wtf, there's nothing wrong with it. Until clicking through showed that they block info@ and webmaster@ addresses because 'it is not personal enough' or something, lol. What a bunch of bullshit.

You don't need a phone number to get a "short url". That's reserved for when your page actually gets enough "likes" to prove that it isn't just an attempt to squat on a good name. As for your email issue (info/admin/etc), if your domain is set-up as a catch-all, just use another signup email address. (Or setup a forwarding address if it's not set up as a catch-all.)

Despise FB all you want. It's a gold mine for those who can get over themselves and realize that it still has a lot of potential for businesses. 800 Million users...That's a stat that can't be ignored, along with the fact that FB offers targeted marketing according to specific demographics.

I still don't like FB much but there are so many ways to make money there. FB has put a lot of dollars in my pocket so I just deal with it. It's business.
