Corporate Service Providers Promote Mobile Censorship

Corporate Service Providers Promote Mobile Censorship

"Watch out, world; the mobile censors are massing at the gates. Instead of promoting solutions that offer individualized methods to filter unwanted content received on their mobile devices, these corporate service providers are trying to jump-start censorship at the network level, similar to mandatory ISP-level filtering being proposed in some countries."

Read the article and discuss.

Think in terms of them banning .xxx and you suddenly see how it's good. LOL

censorship in anyway is not good.

.xxx will be blocked by most isp's over the years

So child porn should not be censored?

Not the shooting of it, that would be illegal in most places. Censorship reduces the publication of it and therefore the profits it will generate. Not a 100% solution, yet it's there.

Do you say it shouldn't be censored?

Discuss please.

I with Adam on this one .xxx is too easy to block at the ISP level for it to flourish. It's designed 100% for porn sites. Therefore blocking it at the base level offers an excellent option to offer clients. An opt in clause would be offered by "family friendly" ISPs.

Fletch if possible should ISPs block child porn? "Censoring" the sites. :winkwink:

ummm, comparing something aimed at stopping minors from viewing porn on mobile devices to cp is a bit overboard. Not going there.

Service providers allow adult content to be blocked and I can turn it off on my mobile phone.

Censorship so you agree with some censorship. Can you give a list to the White House so they can pass a law. :1orglaugh

Like Fletch thinks anyone in power gives a damn what a guy in the porn industry thinks about porn censorship. He's not even too sure what should and shouldn't be censored. :1orglaugh

IMO it's down to the parents. So if it's opt in or completely blocked or nt blocked. It's up to the parents to exercise parental control. Like installing Net Nanny. Or is opt in or blocked porn being optional too much parental control?

There HAVE to be limits. The problem is the gov and corp tyrants who take logical and needed limits and use them as a wedge to stifle and subdue.
