.COM Price Increase - Email from GoDaddy (Did you get this too?)

On January 15, 2012, VeriSign®, the registry for .COM will increase prices ? .COM will go up 7%.

Avoid this price increase. Renew your domain names* by January 15 and add another year to your current expiration dates. You have the option to register or renew for multiple years and lock in long-term savings. Of course, should you have any questions, please give us a call at 1-480-505-8821.

Thanks for being a Go Daddy customer.

Sincerely,

Bob Parsons

The domain name prices are constantly going up for last few years...
That VeriSign must be loaded with cash...

Cyber Fucker 12-06-2011 10:14 PM

Hmm... will Verisign from now rise the price every year since .com is established king? I remember there was already some increase a year or two ago.

They have, I remember paying $5.69 with thriftys.com, and onlinenic.com.
Now pay $8.09 for .com

amateurbfs 12-06-2011 11:05 PM

They used to be 70 so I guess we can't complain too much.

CYF 12-06-2011 11:08 PM

I got an email from dynadot on November 8th.

Verisign is allowed to increase prices by 7% four out of every six years.

fogfever 12-07-2011 02:09 AM

if they raise the .com prices by 1000% they would still be less than .xxx

drmadcat 12-07-2011 02:23 AM

i get them all the time only from godaddy thow

blofer80 12-07-2011 02:27 AM

this sucks

femdomdestiny 12-07-2011 02:30 AM

why they are raising prices? What's the cost for domain registars ?

Jarmusch 12-07-2011 02:33 AM

That will put half of GFY out of business.

yeah I posted a thread about the same thing, sucks that prices of just about everything is going up in a world wide recession, I guess when people are down...just step on them. Corporate America, at its best.

Oh wait gas went down 2 pennies today to $3.79 a gallon :thumbsup

Verisign is allowed to increase prices by 7% four out of every six years.

Verisign charges registrars $7.34 for a .com, going up to $7.85 in January
They charge $4.65 for a net, and that increases to $5.11 in January.

RyuLion 12-08-2011 01:48 AM

lol..................

Lykos 12-08-2011 05:55 AM

Didn't get that email but it's still ok price :)

Black All Through 12-08-2011 06:34 AM

They all will before Jan 15th just that Godaddy informed their customers before time. Others will prefer to do it at the last minute to gauge as much money as possible.
I'm referring to the .net price raise of 2009 and the .info of this current year.

Denny 12-08-2011 07:09 AM

Yep, got that email from GD as well.

mafia_man 12-08-2011 07:15 AM
