So I watched MIDDLE MEN last night on Netflix the other day and...

So I signed up to Netflix for the 1 month free trial recently and decided to watch Middle Men. I have to say it's a pretty bad movie. It's usually a bad sign when a movie has to start with narration to explain the plot, which this movie does, but it all goes down from there. Lots of cliches, and Giovanni Ribisi is seriously miscast.

That is all.

I feel like the story was fabricated and half told. Missing what happens next where he robs an entire industry.

anexsia 12-06-2011 06:03 PM

I torrented the fuck out of Middle Men.

and how he runs around town spending the stolen money and why nobody will do anything about it.

You watched it "last night the other day?" ... Wait, what?

Sharky 12-06-2011 08:11 PM

I thought it was a decent movie. worthy of watching at home, not in theaters.

What do people here think of Netflix anyway?

Personally I find it "passable". The selection of content is ok when I'm bored with regular TV (I watched a few episodes of the original Battlestar Galactica) but it looked like it was ripped from a VHS tape. You would think they would be showing the remastered versions of classic shows at least.

The HD content is better but it is compressed like crazy. TRON LEGACY and STAR TREK for example look and sound boring when compared to HD Satellite, and downright muddy when compared to Blu Ray. Image and colour detail or lost, and the sound, while 5.1, also seems a little less exciting.

Of course the content is streaming over the Internet and the bandwidth is not nearly what you get from Bluray but I guess I was expecting more. The unit I'm using is Apple TV 2nd Generation. Movies streamed from Apple look much better and sound better than Netflix, but of course you pay more.

Anyone else barely satisfied with Netflix?

Fake but I enjoyed it.

Decent movie. Very removed from the truth. Hugely removed from the truth.

I could not watch that piece of shit movie.

I torrented that fucking thing and felt ripped off about using the bandwidth it was that bad - i'm embarrassed to say to anyone i helped to fund it.

One could tell that the narrator was a self-important jackass and probably bullshitting about a good chunk of it. Otherwise, not an awful movie.

RSD 12-07-2011 03:16 AM

Really inspiring!

facialfreak 12-07-2011 03:23 AM

icymelon 12-07-2011 08:32 AM

I hate to admit I thought it was decent. Better than drive. I compare the 2 because of the B movie mafia stuff.

You saying it is bad is scary in its own! :1orglaugh

Oh, movies that started off with narration to explain the plot:

Fight Club
Taxi Driver
Lord of the Rings
Shawshank Redemption
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Usual Suspects
Trainspotting
Forrest Gump
American History X
A Clockwork Orange
Apocolypse Now
Sin City
Goodfellas
Stand By Me

Just a short list here.. but some people thought those were good anyway ;)

and the 'comment of the day' award goes to..

a.miles 12-07-2011 10:44 AM

watched it during a flight months ago
was good enough to kill time off a long flight.
It's weak but fun... it's a movie after all not a documentary
