Anyone here ever sold stock photos?
 

I'm fascinated by these stock photo sites and was wondering if anyone here has put up images they shot and actually generate or have generated revenue this way. From what I read some people an earn a couple hundred bucks per month. Mostly save the earnings to buy new equipment or beer money.

I've bought them many a time.

I have too which is why I thought people have to be making some amount of money from their photos on sites like that.

I read an article recently about someone making $200k in a year selling their photos on stock image sites.

we sell stock photos (non adult) and it runs good.

I'm working on a batch of 3D medical images at the moment for a big science stock site. I haven't finished my images yet, but my research has led me to believe it could be semi-lucrative for those that put in the work and create quality images of the most in-demand subject matter.

So as it goes with anything, hard work and intelligence will probably pay-off.

I understand that most people doing that make dozens of dollars per month. A very few do quite well, I'm sure, but the vast majority make very little, I've been told.

You have to get lucky, and have to get your picture selected by a big ad agency. It only happened once to me and that was 20 plus years ago when I was in college.

Recently I picture netted $75 in a major UK magazine. So you have to be lucky.
