That, and, I guess, do anything gay there, since they've executed like 4000 Iranians for being gay in the last 30-odd years.

sucks.

.

Jakez 01-19-2012 01:59 PM

WTF, ok lets invade them now.

harvey 01-19-2012 02:06 PM

now, out of jokes and putting things in perspective: if it's forbidden by law and you know the risks and yet you choose to do it, then you were looking for it. Simple as that. It sounds very retrograde and strange, but think of this: most people thinks death penalty in USA is from stone age to say the least. So, both have death penalty, what changed here is the crime.

Even more perspective: ASSUMING THIS IS TRUE, he doesn't even have a excuse like "I stole because my family was in need" or "I killed in self defense" or even "I murdered because my dog told me so". He knowingly broke a law doing something he was prepared for, but in an illegal way (for the laws in his country, not for ours, of course). He could have programmed a phone app or something legal. He chose not to. Well, as fucked up as it sounds, now he has to face the consequences. ASSUMING THIS IS TRUE.

pimpmaster9000 01-19-2012 02:16 PM

Iran wanted to introduce a law that bans women with "sexy eyes" from walking the streets with their eyes not covered.

My condolences to the people of Iran for having such retards in power.

Hope they get to hang their government one day.

I would agree with you if he were a resident of Iran, but the article says he is a permanent resident of Canada, at least according to his family. The article does not say what he was doing in Iran at the time of his arrest.

According to Malekpour's family, he is a permanent resident of Canada and is a programmer who wrote photo-uploading software that was used by a porn website without his knowledge.
If only there were some law where we could shut down websites that illegally used the creative content of others.

You didn't read the article did you? It said he wrote a photo upload script that was later used by a porn site with out his knowledge. It wasn't him running a porn site but someone used his software to run one.

man you are smarter than that. you haven't even brushed up on the basics of what really happened there and are using it as a forum to pontificate on your belief system.

Why? America puts people in prison for things many other countries dont believe are illegal. we also kill people for things the majority of the industrialized nations would not. following the laws of the land is a pretty normal thing throughout history.

Iran doesn't even recognize dual-citizenship, let alone permanent residency in another country. The info below is from a US government site but the quote below applies to any other country.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p.../cis_1142.html

Quote:

U.S. passports are valid for travel to Iran. However, the Iranian government does not recognize dual nationality and will treat U.S. - Iranian dual nationals solely as Iranian citizens subject to Iranian laws. Thus, U.S. citizens who were born in Iran, who became naturalized citizens of Iran (e.g., through marriage to an Iranian citizen), and children of such persons?even those without Iranian passports who do not consider themselves Iranian?are considered Iranian nationals by Iranian authorities. Therefore, despite the fact that these individuals hold U.S. citizenship, under Iranian law, they must enter and exit Iran on an Iranian passport, unless the Iranian government has recognized a formal renunciation or loss of Iranian citizenship. Dual nationals may be subject to harsher legal treatment than visitors with only U.S. citizenship.

"Once, in October 2008, the interrogators stripped me while I was blindfolded and threatened to rape me with a bottle of water," he wrote.

Something the right wingers here would be ok with, not much difference between the two actually.
