However, this really just digs them a much deeper hole, and will entice the Feds or powers that be to come after them even harder. Historically, you will see that those tube sites who have a posted DMCA, remove when the requests come in, terminate accounts and what not rarely have the issues some of the others do.

Why?

Because the others do not remove content timely, if at all. They do not terminate accounts. They allow the same content to be re-uploaded within minutes. They have an arrogance to DMCA and just pour gasoline on fire. In short, those who simply remove content and follow DMCA timely do not have the level of grief as the others getting hauled off to jail.

When a site like ORON starts intentionally blocking IP's and shit of that nature, it reinforces the MALICE to copyright theft and intentions. Making it just that much easier for the government(s), lawyers, law enforcement to get a slam dunk case on them. It's a completely different ball game when it's user uploads, and it is removed in good faith should a complaint come in. You can play the Sgt Schultz card.

Malicious intent like they are showing DWB will ultimately be their undoing.

they also canned the whole OVH IP range, geo-IPs the lot. I was sniffing their files for a while when the light went out. Switched IP, then the lamp broke again 12 hours later... been through 15 IPs so far... but then bing - as soon as I tried a new IP it was blank. Even my vpn that isn't even a server went blank.

That should help with their amount of dmca complaints

I was going to suggest tor, but oron would have probably blocked those IPs already too. If you're running tor it's trivial to get a list of exit relay IPs.

Maybe get an AOL account and setup a proxy to go through it. As I understand it AOL cycles through the proxies so at least if they ban you they are going to slowly block themselves from AOL. :1orglaugh It's not quite as significant as it was 10 years ago but still something which they probably wouldn't want.

You can also setup proxies on your own servers if you have lots of IPs and blocks to use. Not perfect but should work for a while.

I will mention Tinyproxy in the hope that it helps someone. One of the features is that it can listen across multiple virtual interfaces and it will then connect with the remote site using the source IP from the interface you accessed it thru. It can be very useful in a situation such as this. It can be configured to be anonymous (no headers to betray you).

Client ----> Proxy 192.111.111.2 -> Your IP: 192.111.111.2 ---> Oron
