A Giant spectacle, loved it. A lot of people have counted Madonna out, dont think so :thumbsup:thumbsup

Scott McD 02-05-2012 06:18 PM

I liked her boots lol.

But yeah, certainly better than last year when the Black Eyed Pea's sounded like shit!

Yeah it was lipsinc, most of it infact, but rather that than just something that sounds terrible like last year.

Decent show!

In the one part where they had the cheerleaders it showed a second of just a heavy pixelated picture and then went back to Madonna picking up her gold pom poms off the floor. I'm wondering if she stumbled and they were able to block it with a five second delay broadcast or something. Anyone else see that?

not sure what that was, but in one part, it was obvious lip sinking, but I think the last part was live singing

I worked my highschool summers with ProShows .... as an audio technician, and I will let you in on a little secret:

More than 80% of live shows are lip-sync'ed ... with a live mic, so that [the artist] can interact with the crowd, and give them that "LIVE" feel ...

Lip-sync'ing assures the artists' voices do not crack or fail altogether ... and with most artists running, and dancing, and whatever else they do, it also assures we do not hear their huffing and puffing, heavy breathing, and weazing. (yes many artists are smokers .. )

You mean 80% of bullshit pop bands are lip-sync'ed. Judas Priest and Foo Fighters are on tour right now. You think they are lip syncing? How can so many classic rockers, old men in their 60s and 70s now, still play and sing live? Tony Benett still plays all over the world to packed houses and he's 85 years old! How does he sing live every time? It's called musical talent which these pop lip syncers just don't have.

VikingMan 02-05-2012 09:11 PM

yes, I saw it online. good halftime show

2MuchMark 02-05-2012 10:03 PM

Singers who run around and dance alot can be forgiven if they have to lip sync a little. I saw the halftime show and I'd say that 90% of Madonna's performance was real. A few things to watch for are :

- Is the singer singing on the exhale?
- Do you hear her breathe / exhale / inhale?
- Does it sound different from the recording that you know?

Here's Madonna's performance

And here's the queen of Lipsync :

Saw this morning that one of the two black girls on the pedestals had flicked the camera a bird which appeared on camera before they had time to censor it and the pixilation came too late which is what I saw.

Another example of a classless, lowlife, dirtbag entertainer that can't do the job they were hired to do. I say ban the bitch from broadcast TV and then let her think how cool she is :)

It was impressive!

Spudman 02-06-2012 08:55 AM

I thought it was quite boring half time show. over the hill Madonna singing really old songs. They should have just had Cee lo doing some good songs.

Relentless 02-06-2012 08:55 AM

For a 53 year old woman she still moves pretty well.
At her age, any show that doesn't result in a broken hip is a massive success.

Kenny B! 02-06-2012 09:00 AM

Sound and show were good but Madonna looked like she had a hard time staying upright in those boots.

Cee-lo went nuts with the bedazler on his moo moo!

I thought it might be lame if she only did new songs but if she did the oldies I knew it would be good.

Her performance of Dress You Up in 1984 in Detroit imo is the best live choreographed music performance with live singing EVER. When you have that kind of talent, you dont lose it that easily. 53 isnt that old.

Detroit 1984 (best quality)

Some of it?? lol Try the whole performance.

Madonna has been shit for years, all she does is depend on the new up and coming bands to write everything for her. She pays them a ton of money and reaps the benefits, I have zero respect for her and "artists" like her. Super bowl needs to get bands that actually play live.

Evil Chris 02-06-2012 09:55 AM

A lot of haters about the half-time show. Dunno why, I thought it was pretty good.

MIA is an idiot though.

I was about six rows back, center stage for the Virgin Tour when she came to Orlando in 1984 and I'm not sure if she opened with Dress You Up but I will always remember when she first came out the crowd went nuts and the screaming was an all time high. When she pulled the mic up to sing her first words the audience went silent to hear her. It was like someone flipped a switch. As soon as they heard her sing it was back to screaming. It was surreal.

Watching this YT video you can hear the same thing happen.

Back then Madonna ruled the world and to this day that is one of my favorite concert experiences. She did well in the half time show but lost her footing a few times. Some of it was a bit pushed like " look at me I'm over 50 and can still do a cartwheel " but towards the end she seemed to find her groove. While she is still productive I'd say she is past her prime. I'm just thankful I was there when she was on top :)

Thank you very much for the excellent feedback :) Awesome that you were 6 rows back. Her stage makeup is just excellent on video. In real life it must have been something else. She was looking very pretty then.

You know that whole routine was just drilled in to her and yet, one mistake and it's off. Like when she puts the mic back in the mic stand towards the end. The way she counts the step to the tip of the stage.

You can just see the fire and drive in her and it is a beautiful thing to see someone achieve such heights with a dream, a ton of rehearsal and nerves of steel when it is time.

You can imagine how you would feel if you were her just before she went on and the crowd was buzzing. Must have beeen an awesome rush. Yet as she is doing it there is not much time to think. She could only live it and do it as rehearsed. Perfectly.

I love it :thumbsup :)

Sigh, yeah the whole crowd noise in the background in these huge indoor arenas is awesome.

Evil Chris 02-06-2012 10:28 AM

I remember that video. Never saw her live, though.

Guys aren't supposed to like Madonna I thought :(

Vjo 02-06-2012 10:50 AM

Plus the song is killer. Want to see who wrote it..

Submitted late by songwriters Andrea LaRusso and Peggy Stanziale it was the last to be added to Like A Virgin.

Never heard of them. hehe (actually I have heard of them now that I think about it) Song writing is so cool tho and where all the money really is.

Rick Nowles for example wrote all of Belinda Carlisle's hits. Never heard of him till I looked into it. He has written a ton of hit songs for many performers. http://www.ricknowels.com

Great performers seldom write their own music but, I thought Madonna had some writing abilities but perhaps not.

Excatly pop/top 40 bands do this. Real bands like foo fighters,Oasis, blink 182 whoever do not. As someone who goes to a ton of concerts I can tell. When they perform live it does not sound like it does when its on cd. I have ZERO respect for these shite pop "bands" that depend on lip syncing. It makes me sick. Anyhow end of rant lol.

Jman 02-06-2012 11:06 AM

They got the entire Gay community to tune in to see the Super Bowl Half time show, great accomplishment and winning ratings ;-)

DaddyHalbucks 02-06-2012 11:12 AM

Good show, lip synced or not.

BlackCrayon 02-06-2012 11:26 AM

not a fan of any of the music but it was entertaining enough for the few minutes i caught and they managed to fit all the popular garbage in one medley.

If I paid to see a concert I expect the performers to sing live.

The half time show at the super bowl is a unique show. The field was transformed to one of the most amazing visual displays since the Olympics and it was done in eight minutes and then completely dismantled and taken away in another eight minutes for the second half.

The logistics for pulling that off must be incredible and I don't hold any blame for the performers lip syncing in this unique situation. They put on a show that even the people in the nose bleed seats could enjoy. Way too much physical action for Madonna to sing live. Perhaps if she just stood at the mic like Kelly Clarkson did she could've sang live.

Heyy-OOOOOOOO! :) Now cmon! She is way better looking than Lady Gaga. :) And that is all that counts. :) How is LG gonna look at 53?

Altho LG writes her own songs I think. There were some great writers in the 80's tho and we associate her with her songs but the writers are prob the real stars.

None the less, now ya made me do it :)

coming down at 4 am in 1985 THIS was the song :)

Written by John Bettis and Jon Lind.

I love this. What can I say.

"got any pot" Desperately Seeking Susan 1985 :)

I love her. Just do.

second fav

Written by Brian Elliot with additional lyrics by Madonna

snotty song (that's a good thing) :)

Tom_PM 02-06-2012 01:14 PM

I was more surprised at all the late night and daytime comedians making fun of Madonna for aging. Kind of disturbingly cruel. Was she supposed to have stopped the passage of time? Or just died quietly?

I hear ya brother, Madonna was hot back in the day. What I object to is not really Madonna-centric but rather Baby Boomer-centric. Okay, maybe "human condition"-centric:

Trying to look like you're 23 when you're 53, or 63, or 73....

Ahh vanity. Hey-OOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

webair 02-06-2012 01:22 PM

I think it was mediocre at best. The fact that they even chose her for the gig just show how little new talent is actually out there. We need artists. New creativity. All the songs she sang (barring the new crappy one) were all from the 90's! Van Halen would have been a better choice if we had to chose a veteran act! :2 cents:

Great game though! GO BLUE! =)

directfiesta 02-06-2012 01:41 PM

Very nice show ... produced by Moment Factory , a Montreal firm.

Actually I just seen the vid for the first time. Keepen Dish Network's $50 in my pocket this month :) )

I wrote this at the beginning in anticipation as I seen her in yellow at a distance....

Yeah the 50's are hard on us all. No matter how much you exercise ect. Even I, the fairest of them all, am starting to fade a bit lol :)

....Just seen it. Screw all that. Her face is still major hot to me.

Fuck man. She is a true American superstar. Prob the superstar performer of all time from the USA. Name one better.

Sexy as hell too. To us old farts. LOL I am DLing a 1080p to fully watch first time.
