What machine do you guys run your business/sites from?

Laptop, Desktop, Mac, Tablet, Other?

Always used to use a desktop but for the past year, I have been working from a large screen laptop and a tablet but always feel that I`m more productive with a desktop (I know it shouldn`t make any difference but it does seem to for me!) so may need to go shopping again. :)

You guys?

One of the things I hate is having multiple machines. Oftentimes people feel they need to have a desktop for this and a laptop for that. I simplified my setup years ago by having one good powerful computer, in my case a 15" Core i7 Macbook Pro with an SSD drive. When stationary, I have it in clamshell mode and connected up to a larger monitor. this way I get the benefit of having desktop productivity when I'm at my desk and then I have the portability of my a lptop when I am sitting on the sofa, or on the deck and so on.

For example this is what my setup is modeled after.

We use Power Macs, iMacs, MacBook Pros. If we need Windows (ie: for cross browser testing) or Linux then we run Parallels.

I use a laptop as my main email, business comunication and web surfing machine. It sits in a docking station when I am at home and goes with me on shoots or on trips so that I have all my history and info with me. I use multiple other desktops for video editing, encoding and graphic design however. That way the other workstations can be busy encoding videos, processing photos, uploading files through ftp or doing maintenance simultaneously as I am working on my laptop.

I am definitely more productive on a desktop, and I don't think I could find a laptop powerful enough to run what my desktop does. In any case, I run two Windows 7 desktops (one is a slave computer to run some monitoring software etc) and I have a Linux box I run locally as a development server.

Then for sites etc we run servers of different specs from a datacentre. I also remember owning a laptop but my partner has laid claim to it, so i only get to see it at meetings now.
