Free domain name
So I started almost a year ago and some names are coming up for renewal.
I have one coming up 04/06 www.ExFiance.com and I am willing to xfer it to someone here with a godaddy account. When I saw the name the first thing that popped into my head was making a site about future brides with cold feet cheating with a friend, stripper or some random waiter at the rehearsal with the dress on, etc..., maybe getting caught. Anyway, I have a lot of domains like this I planned on building but never got around to. I am not in a position to leave my job and I probably don't put as much time/effort into this as I should. Other than that I know I am doing some things wrong and should probably thin out my list until I get better at it (ie.. pay my renewals from sales :1orglaugh:Oh crap). If someone here thinks the name is ok and can build on it, I would be happy to know at least I had the right idea. Maybe one of you pros can get a couple sales from it before it expires. I know some of you guys have a gift with seo and can get things moving pretty quickly. If you guys think the name is horrible then I apologize for wasting your time. First person who leaves their icq and has a godaddy acct., can have it. Best of luck. :thumbsup |

Thanks cyf. I kind of feel relieved to let it go. I want to do something different with each name I buy and I guess you can get a kind of attachment/pressure along with that. I started with like 110 names, I have like 79 now, still I don't have enough time right now to work on 79 projects under the circumstances lmao!

@Barcodes: Domain privacy will be had for free with the following little scheme:
First year, register 6 or more domains at Godaddy to get free domain privacy. Second year, transfer to Namecheap, get domain privacy for free when transferring. Thrird year, transfer back to Godaddy or elsewhere to again get free domain privacy. Or just move to Namecheap and the domain privacy is like $1 or $2 per domain and year and avoid all further transferring. |

or use Fabulous where privacy is free ....

Some sponsors don't allow PO Boxes so just use the street address. 123 elm st. #1111 |
FYI, when you use domain privacy, you are NOT the legal registrant of the domain name. The domain registrar is the legal registrant. Look at the disaster when RegisterFly went under. Lots of people got fucked and lost their domains.

Thanks for all of the info and good advice.
I look up to all you guys and am a bit embarrassed to come off as such an unsuccessful person. As always, this community has offered me sound advice and I am grateful to have found this place and met you all. I felt a lot better today when i opened this up and saw everyone trying to help me. To be honest, I should have done the privacy thing from the start. I thought I would be a little better at this so I planned on just adding them in over time. Then i started to buy more names! lol. Now I have like a little over a grand in renewals and 500 bucks in privacy if I choose to add it. The domains are fairly spread out over the year other than in march when I started so I should be ok. It is just hard for me to justify spending so much on something I haven't really gained much from. I just need to sit down and figure out how the whole traffic thing works. I am going to read up on the a-b-c trades etc, I am a bit confused about all of that. I see people have mentioned linkspun but I also see people say if your sites don't generate enough traffic your trades will cease to exist. There is that debate over traffic and I probably can't afford to spend enough for it to work out well. Buying hardlinks looks like the best option but to be honest, I don't know what is a bad or good deal, whats worth buying and what isn't etc. I am sure in time and some serious effort it will come to me. I have a lot porn and porno names, like "category"porno.com or "category"porn.com that I think have potential. I just figured if I gave up a name I had a little bit of an attachment to, it would be easier for me to let go of some of them if I needed to in the future. I probably sat in front of the screen for an hour before I posted this thread, lmfao and it wasn't my best name or anything. :1orglaugh:error. |
Here is an example of what I am talking about...
www.dateorfun.com/ I wanted to put something on this name. I spoke with Jayvis and found out about their api. I didn't really understand at first how you get the info and get it to them but Jayvis showed me the api and all was well. I spent a day designing and building the page. It isn't the prettiest thing but I was happy to learn something new and excited about it. A few minutes after its up, it dawned upon me... "What the fuck am I going to do with this?!?!" :1orglaugh Do I put it as a popunder in my blogs that are bringing i maybe 3000 uniques a month because I am too stupid to comprehend link trading/buying? I think I made like 5 bucks last year using that approach with my SM w/l :Oh crap. I have been sitting on this name for like a month now with no idea how to market this. I have so many stupid questions about link trading , I think I let my pride get in the way and I figure maybe the guy doing the trades doesn't wanna spend time trying to figure out what I want or trying to pull out what info I need to give him. I don't really know what to put in for anchor keywords or w/e. With my mainstream design job, it isn't something I have had to do for anyone. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...mind_blown.gif I have helped some of you with advice or info relating to design or scripting or photo manipulation when a traffic thread is made I shut the fuck up with a quickness :1orglaugh |

If price is the primary concern wouldn't going with a more, shall we say, "stable" registrar that has a good price and a couple of bucks for privacy work out better in the long run anyway? |
I see a lot of comments about privacy pricing in here.
At Name.com you can get free privacy with the coupon code FREEWHOIS. Another good option is internet.bs, they offer free whois. I've been using them for a few years now without any problems and find myself moving more and more domains to them. |
