Who has seen the film "The Artist"
 

So with this film picking up all the major gongs, I wonder who here has actually seen it?

And what did you think of it?

I doubt if I will get to see it as it won't come here. Language barrier problems. LOL

Saw it over christmas, it's a really nice movie.

It was that or "The jokes were lost in translation." :1orglaugh

Over Hype. It was OK, but not as great as everyone said it was for them.

Sadly most movies given such hype don't deserve it. If they went on box office that's a different story.

I was going to see it yesterday, but got sidetracked. Now I'm going to wait, because it'll be around for a while, and every multiplex idiot will be in the theater.

It doesn't usually take an Oscar win for me to go to a movie like this, but I just haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. I love my dumb action movies, and robots beating the shit out of each other, but I'm also a sucker for a good musical number and well told story -- and the idea of a movie without dialogue sounds good. The best movies should be able to tell a story without explaining it to you.

so that would then make spiderman, titanic and starwars the best movies of all time?

no, i don't think so...

It had a very limited release. If anyone here has seen it, they downloaded a torrent or got a screener copy from their Academy voting teacher (like I did).

That said, It was an entertaining flick. Definitely worthy of the Best Picture award.

I spent a whole week watching old silent films this past month and The Artist stacks up to the classics quite nicely.

It's great, if you like cinema then you will like this film.

But wait yeah, there was no sexy megan fox, bombs/explosions... so probably boring for most here.

Hugo is pretty good in that way also. Did you see it yet?

Hugo was overhyped too imo. Some amazing scenes, just not incredibly interesting.

I liked it. Not my favorite movie of 2011, but enjoyable enough to recommend, especially movie buffs.

I was just thinking the same thing. Why bother...
