Need some help with files
Any smart ways to do this?
I have 2 folders: 1 folder with 500 screenshots with random file names. 1 folder 900 videos with random file names. 500 of those screenshots match 500 videos (they have the same filename). How do i select those and delete the non matching videos. |
Drop screen caps in same folder and sort all files by file name. Those videos that don't have matching jpg file can go to trashcan.

Actually it isn't that easy. The non matching files appear everywhere in between the matching files. I still would have to click them one by to delete them.
Any other suggestions? |

JustAlex's way is the only way i can think of doing it by hand. otherwise you need to get some programming power behind it (which would make it 100x easier)
just set it up, grab some snacks and/or a movie and get started it'll be over before you know it |

ok try this....(lol be afraid of breaking).... this is assuming you're on windows
- get a file renaming app that will let you rename extensions - copy the videos into a new folder, copy the images into a new folder (all in case it fucks up) - rename all the videos in the new vid folder so they have jpg (or whatever) extension - copy/paste those renamed files into you new image folder. should prompt you to "overwrite existing", say yes - sort by date modified, get rid of all the 'older' files that were not overwritten - re-rename to video extension - now you have thew vids that had a corresponding image ......i think i said that right.... |
