This is a really difficult question to answer. Since I am a musician myself, I'd probably go with Oscar Peterson. Damn good pianist. Perhaps the greatest who has ever lived, but his chops tend to always end up with the same "feel" to them.

I will go with Frank Zappa. This guy rounded up the best musical minds of his time, made about 60 albums of every genre possible, and was absolutely brilliant.
