Porn blog hosts: how much header/footer advertising is too much?

So I'm sitting here thinking about how I should put up a Wordpress network and let people sign up and create their own porn blogs/splogs. It would be entirely contained within Wordpress, meaning that I wouldn't write any code whatsoever (cuz I don't know how), and I would edit the headers and footers so that every blog would carry my links and ads.

Two questions:

1. Why hasn't anyone done this before? Or have they and I just don't know about it?

2. I would limit header advertising for obvious reasons, but is there a point where people are gonna look at all the crap I put in the footer and decide to go elsewhere? Or it just doesn't matter cuz they're only doing it for the seo?

Good luck

If you put one single advertisement they won't use your bloghost.

It's 2012, do you really think nobody thought about that before you?

I think every idea has been thought of by someone, but executing ideas is a different story. Plus Wordpress network is relatively new.

Wordpress MU has been around for a decade...

Advertising appears by magic after a year when you have been given lots of pages of content to change the links on.

The Wordpress format I'm talking about didn't exist a decade ago, but I know the general idea is the same

I've been kicking around an idea for a not-quite-blogging service based on WP Mu for several years now, but like you lack the tech know-how to effectively realize it on my own. As I see it, my idea could provide a service that many would find valuable - both mainstream and adult, so would need a version for each.

What kills me is that I know it CAN be done, I just don't know how to go about doing it. :disgust

To answer your question though, I think people will continue to use freehost platforms if they have useful plugins and keep the advertisements to a minimum.

OK, I don't get that, but whatever.

If you're serious about it, then I would consider offering an alternative to the ubiquitous All-In-One-SEO and FeedWordpress combo. I would recommend offering HeadSpace with CyberSyn (which can block duplicate posts by name and/or guid such as you see when using PimpRoll or AEBN feeds with many of the feedreaders).

However, you should keep in mind that you will have some degree of responsibility for every single post that is made on a platform you own, so will need to make yourself accessible for receiving DMCA and other legal requests and acting on them in a timely manner.

Hey newB, I was pretty sure that you were being sarcastic with your previous post so that's why I gave you the middle finger icon! haha

Anyway thanks for the advice. I think what I'm gonna do is make my own multisite blog and just use it for myself! Free blog hosts are so unreliable and most of them are running installs that haven't been updated in forever, I may as well just host my own splog farm. Maybe I'll open it up to the public later, who knows.
