I think that is why I hate Chrome so much. Apparently you need add-ons to make it worth a damn.

If you say so. I installed it a few months ago and hate it with a passion. IE does not freeze up as much as that piece of crap.

IE is probably the most painful browser to use and create websites for :2 cents:

Real talk. It's gaining fast on IE. FF is already in 3rd place.

I would wager the problem lies on the machine you were running it on. Because I've rarely encountered any trouble with chrome/chromium.

I've never had a problem with Chromium, it works really well and even Chrome works great on my Windows machine too. But hey, it's good that there's several browser choices out there now and we can all choose which one we like best :)

I only run a couple add-ons at any given time. I just enable/disable ones I rarely use.

Currently about five though

I feel so sorry for windows users that don't get to easily experience the sheer unbridled sexiness of Chromium :D

Boozer 03-26-2012 08:30 PM

Here are the only 4 I use

Adblock Plus (Beta)
ChromeIPass
Do Not Track Plus
Speed Dial 2

d-null 03-26-2012 09:14 PM

are any of you running chrome AND chromium at the same time?

I am having problems getting Flash to update on Chromium, it keeps failing, and then it will say Chrome automatically updates, etc... there seems to be a conflict and I can't figure out the solution

ElleSorbet 03-26-2012 10:09 PM

I don't have much...but what I do use is TooManyTabs, Adblock, flashblock, and google mail checker

Guys, what's the advantage of using Chromium instead of Chrome? I am only familiar with Chrome.

Mainly because it's open source. That tends to keep google's tracking bidness clear of it.
Plus new features get tried out in it before they make their way into chrome.
Also it just seems to run much smoother in my experience.

sojproductions 03-27-2012 12:22 AM

dont use any at the moment, like the sound of chrome2phone, gonna check it out

I've added some widgets myself that I find them cool :
- google mail checker - checks if there's something new in my mail box
- To Do check! - this one gives me abilities to do a list of things to do , and these I've done, I just click to remove them.
- Eye Dropper - it works online only, which kinda sucks.
- Feedly
- Chroma - gives some cool ability of mixing colors
- Gradient Creator - I don't know why I've installed it
- Download fonts - ... this calls for air support
- Deviant Art - it leads to there

i have a little over 30 addons added, but not all enabled, about 10 or 12 if i check, have had up 30 or 40 tabs open, and no issues running, have had chrome maybe crash once or twice over the past year i have been running it, i have always been an internet explorer guy, i ventured to firefox, liked it, but chrome was more minimal and lightweight.

but i guess like Coup said, depends on the machine you are running, this machine is an i7 6 core cpu with loads of ram, I guess thats what it boils down too.

You have a point to some extent. The fact that it doesn't come with default mailto: handling is annoying. Good thing the Google Chrome store is just a ctrl+T away.

that's what's wrong with the internet.

kane 04-01-2012 04:04 PM

The only add-on I used is called Mailto: For Gmail. It allows you to click a mail link and it automatically pops up Gmail and puts the email address in it for you.

Excellent thread, think I'll add a couple of these to mine!

I'm currently using
  • Google Mail Checker
  • AdBlock
  • PageRank

Speed Dial Looks handy, you can replace Chrome new tab with your own predefined visual bookmarks.
