Any ideas for pushing an image hosting?

Hello,

Its always good to hear others and learn from the experience of people who have been thr. So I just wanted to hear what would be the good ideas to really push an image hosting website? Content mostly adult but entertain non adult as well.

Well apart from forum posting, etc. How to really make people use the services? What keywords? I don't want to go with make money with our hosting way....

Also does google can help with SE traffic on this kind of site? As far I have learned. I don't see much se traffic or may be I am doing something wrong. Could you please put on some light here with some ideas and quick tips you have on top of your mind?

thank you :)

Random thoughts from someone with a lot of business experience but not with that exact business:

Paypal made it by taking eBay, becoming what "everybody uses" on ebay. Who exactly are you marketing to? If you plan for people posting on forums to use the service, pick a couple forums and become THE service everyone on that forum uses.

Even better if you can get integrated with some forum software or something.and becomes THE image host on sites using that software.

SEs don't have the same community / word of mouth, so with SEs I'd focus on a specific community at first. As a random example, if marketing was targetted to new moms with baby pics (postyourbaby.com), you would get word of mouth on thenest.com and similar sites. Make a copy postyourschematic.com targetted at geeks and you could own the geek market.

Contact the program bosses and persuade them to offer your services in exchange for aff code free advertising on your shit, or even offer them a watermark service.

Well guess you miss the point, making people use the image hosting services it is not the big problem you are going to confront. Biggest problem is how can it be monetized the traffic.
Torrents, forums, file sharing websites also want to take print screens from their full dvds and this is the way when you help them :winkwink:

imgur.com is a good example of starting small, now its the most used image, alexa rank of 72

The question is, why would someone use your image hosting service over the others available ? What makes your image hosting different ?
