Never underestimate a geriatric behind the wheel.

deef-thp 04-20-2012 06:56 PM

typical female driver.

mrgica 04-20-2012 06:58 PM

By the way, it was a woman behind the wheels. Most certainly a stupid one.

Crazy... hope that baby in the stroller was okay

xenigo 04-20-2012 09:43 PM

This is one of the MANY types of things that autonomous vehicles will prevent happening. Why there's so many autonomous haters is beyond me...

Best-In-BC 04-20-2012 09:46 PM

Machines that make decisions are still capable of making mistakes.

suesheboy 04-21-2012 04:45 AM

The reactions of the people are the most interesting part.

Yea... but they won't do it as often as old / drunk/intoxicated / inexperienced drivers :disgust

Take the time to examine the video. The angle and direction of impact.

The car came thru the doors towards the people sitting against the wall.
It did not come through towards the opposite angle or wall. Very weird.

Those people should sue the dam shop for not having metal poles or a barrier to stop cars from going into shop windows and especially at the entrance. We have them over here on all of our shops... dam third world countries again ...

BlackCrayon 04-21-2012 08:05 AM

76 year old driver...

Are they capable of having heart attacks? Seizures? Poor coordination? Are they capable of being intoxicated? Too old? Too tired? Do machines have poor eye sight? Are they capable of road rage? Jealousy? Aggression? Are they capable of making poor decisions? Are they capable of being distracted? Arguing with their kids? Talking on the phone? Texting? Reading a book?

No? That's because machines are more reliable. Exponentially more reliable. Machines can do anything with far greater reliability and safety than humans.

Autonomy represents the end of traffic jams. The end of searching for a parking spot. The end of waiting on the asshole in front of you to decide what they're going to do on the road. It also represents the end of driver error, which happens all the time due to all of the above listed reasons.

Humans are far more infallible than you think.
