Greece to open 30 detention camps. :-(
Not sure how I missed this gem of a news story. I'm sure this is going to play out well for everyone involved. :Oh crap But they have a nice name... Closed Hospitality Centers
At least they are starting with illegals. Makes me think of the movie Children of Men, where they select cities into camps. Quote:

wow ...

Greece is going to open 30 new detention camps for illegal migrants. They are sure building them quickly. "The first centre will begin operating in the next 30 to 45 days," the deputy public order minister, Manolis Othona, said.
A wave of migrants has been blamed for rise in crime. "70% of violent crime is perpetrated by foreigners," said spokesman. This sounds serious. |

I didn't know they had such a spike in crime. I think most of the media is blowing much of this stuff off. Quote:

Anytime walls or camps are built anywhere in the world, it's never a good thing. Wonder how fast the Mexican and Guatemalans would haul ass back home if they opened camps for illegals in the USA. |
the plan is to "sweep" up the illegals.
99% of the rednecks here would love to see that happen in america as well. |
that doesnt sound good
|
Id love to see it in all countries..
The UK is over run by aliens, i wish they'd all fuck of back to where they came from. Greece shouldn't put them in prisons, they should send them the fuck back to whatever shit hole they sprouted from. |
Those far off shit holes of Macedonia and Albania yes ?

They should do that here, and start off by collecting all the gang members.

can't deport the illegals without camps to put detain them in.

Was watching a documentary on Hitler the other night and couldn't help but see the incredible similarities with him and Obama and the way they rose to power, was pretty creepy.

http://hat4uk.wordpress.com/2012/04/...-eu-residents/ After you've read that, read this line again: "Detailed plans to extend the same rights to Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Israel". |
Not really new. Italy has had a couple open for awhile now to deal with all the camel jockeys displaced by the arab spring, boatloads of them coming from Libya and Tunisia. But, yeah, I guess the only logical conclusion to all this is that governments all over the world are just going to arbitrarily start throwing people in detention centers.

I dont see the problem. Just dont do crime
|
Come on this is stupid plan from politics because at 6/5 we have elections here. This is huge problem because Greece has about 11.000.000 citizens + 1.5 - 2.000.000 foreigners. This number is HUGE and is HUGE problem for Greek economy and life general. The only solution is to send them BACK to their countries and not give money (which we need) to feed them free here... Also we can't send them to another EU country because all european countries had signed the Dublin paper which tells..."example if in France find one of them they send him back to the country which came" that means that will send him back in Greece and not to Pakistan or Bagladesh who came from. Of course is huge problem because Greece is the ONLY "european door" which connect west with east... so many foreigners from east countries, passes Turkey and came easy here in Greece.

unbelievable that you just did that... |
Yep.. ALL of their financial issues are because of illegal immigrants and crime in the streets.

1) Why not just deport them back to where they came from? Surly that would be cheaper than keeping them locked up. However, if this is turned into a business in the way the prison system is, then it makes sense. 2) Who's to say it will stop with illegals? Today it's illegals. Next year it may be Greek criminals. The year after that, anyone who protests. After that, anyone delinquent on their taxes. And so on and so forth. Keeping people in "camps" is a slippery slope. That is one thing history has taught us. Only 70 years ago in the USA they locked up Japanese-Americans in "War Relocation Camps" on American soil. And we are just dumb enough to repeat history over and over again. With the dim future of the world economy, such a movement is going to be the only way they will be able to keep order when the shit hits the fan in collapsing nations, as it's starting to in Greece. First they came for the communists, You can replace communist, trade unionists, and Jews with anything. Illegal immigrants, protesters, Muslims, delinquent tax payers, and so on. Point is, it always starts somewhere. |
They can't be thrown out quickly because many have political asylum seeker requests that need processing, others have no identification whatsoever, where do you send them back to?
I am guessing what bothers you here is the word "camps", really it's just for lack of a better one, maybe low security prisons would sound better. |

I'm reading a book about Auschwitz concentration camp right now and it's down right scary. Makes you question how you view other races.

Its the almighty law of action and reaction.
The USA and most EU countries had their way with the 3rd world for decades, countries like Iran, Iraq, Lybia, Egypt, Tunisia, Ex-Yugoslavia were all doing pretty well 20-30 years ago. Former colonies that managed to free themselves from colonial slave masters and form the "non-aligned nations" and prosper for themselves. Then came the US foreign policy, decades of economic sanctions, oil theft, bullshit politics and viola! you have broke regions in the world spilling their problem in to your countries now. Had you not bombed, economic sanctioned, isolated, corrupted and exploited their countries to shit they would have viable economies and normal leaders today and would not come over in droves. The UN has its hands dirty here as well. The systematic rape of the 3rd world for oil and resources is the reason your economies are starting to fail too. Most people in the US will pretend that their armies actions are pure humanitarianism :1orglaugh but we all know what decades of bombs and sanctions brings to the world... time to reap what you sow...next time sow something nicer... |
