I'm Thinking About Buying A Mac Laptop. Any Advice For Me?

My Windows laptops seem to crash and burn too often. I don't need anything fancy. Internet, some business apps, save pictures/videos. I don't need any special graphics. Just a cheap used one would be fine for what I need it for.

I have an iPad but I rarely use it. Other than that, I've never owned an Apple product. All the cool kids are lining up to give their money to Apple so I wanna be like them. Any advice on what I should buy and from where I should buy it?

First get some skinny jeans at American Eagle or The Gap. Make sure you have a man purse. Then you need some little square glasses. Next, you absolutely MUST have a scarf. Last but definitely not least, get a starbucks cup. Even if filled with water, it's a must have.

Bonus points if you own a pastel colored moped or a tweed jacket.

get the pretty white one with the apple logo on the lid. It goes well with the decor in Starbucks, which is its natural habitat.

Wait a month or so. Most should be getting a refresh soon. All MacBook Pro laptops will get new chips in June. Macbook Air might get updated too.

Definitely wait a month or so. Unless you want "last years model", which they have just started discounting.

I switched to the 2.5Ghz 17" Macbook Pro, and like it so much that it is now my main computer. Takes a small learning curve but I'm doing things faster now than I did on my PC.

Love my Macs..!

I have the cool white plastic one with the awesome mac symbol that lights up on the back...it's gotten me a lot of friends within the artsy crowd.

All jokes aside, it's a great computer but I'm not sure if I will buy it again. Don't really do anything on here that would make it necessary for me to have a Mac. Excel takes forever to load. If you like to upgrade your computer every few years then I'd get a regular PC. You pay a significant premium that probably isn't worth it, if your just using it to use a computer.

WARNING: Once ya go Mac, you never go back.

I love my 2011 8GB Intel i7 MacBook Pro

I was never a "fanboy" .... I had used Windows, and Linux, and I have also played on a few iMacs prior ... I really didn't have a preference overall, but more so depended on what I was doing ...

But fast forward 10 months after using the MacBook Pro as my main computer - for both work and play - I must say I will be a customer for life, and yes I do feel my productivity has greatly improved - both due to HOW Mac gets things done ... but also the fact that I spend less time with maintaining my computer - it just works!!

Is there, like, a deal where all of this comes together in one package?

Thanks to everyone for the input.

i just made the switch from a PC to a Mac and I can honestly say I couldnt be happier. My windows machine was terrible and extremely unstable. 13" MBP with an SSD and 8 gig ram. Would never go back to a PC again

You know how iTunes is good on a Mac, and shit on Windows? Equally, MS software is good (ahem) on a Windows machine, and shit on a Mac.

Get the trial version of iWork, and check out Numbers. Pisses on Excel. IMHO.

I like my macbook air. Powerful enough to use as my everyday work computer.
