Did Apple CEO's statements hint of a Facebook buyout?
Apple's CEO made an interesting comment lately that got people thinking about the unthinkable-Apple buying Facebook.
Facebook's rumored to be working on its own smartphone project with HTC Apple's been trying to get out from under the threat posed by Android Google Plus is making some inroads on Facebook Both players are feeling some competitive pressure. By buying out Facebook, Apple gets a massive loyal network that feeds content via its devices. Apple has the share price to do this.... But the problems are huge: 50% of FB's traffic comes in from mobiles... and there are no ads on FB's mobile version. Huge revenue hole. I am not sure an Apple buyout would necessarily fix this. Also, FB has fixed costs per user regardless of WHERE that user comes from-users from ad rich countries subsidize users from low ad value countries. The "unthinkable"
lol Sure is a lot of false drama in people's writing these days. :) |

OK,,,,,,why not put some ads in?:helpme |
Putting on my tin foil hat:
Facebook went public to raise $16 billion cash and is now going to crash their stock so Apple takes it private again with $16 billion in extra cash lying around. Apple will take it private at a much lower valuation and then pimp the fuck out of it. iTunes integration where you can buy with your own card or Facebook credits. Then they are going to buy Twitter and create even tighter social integration. iPhone will have built in credit card readers and Apple will buy Square and dominated mobile payments. |

Apple will buy General Motors and we will all drive icars controlled by iphones instead of steering wheels.

He means they will have FB posting, sharing and what not in the new version of IOS like they do with twitter now
You really too that a stretch far lol |
Actually, I watched the entire D10 conference. What Tim Cook said was that he was going to buy the entire Philippines, then put them ALL to work as writers to populate their PING social network and overtake Facebook AND Google at the same time.

Buyout "rumors" in time for the impending FLOOD of cheap UNLOCKED insider stock.... Who knows but if there is REAL MEAT to this "story", it will depend on what kind of development Apple has in mind with FB |
Once the corporations have battled, it will eventually all come down to a civil war between Mac and PC people.
The PC people would wear necklaces strung with Mac people skulls in that war. |

Do you predict that one day soon we will all be accepting credit cards to settle up debts with friends, etc? How long do you think until it's commonplace? Yeah, lots of us have Square, but how long until someone like my Mom has it or something else like she already does PayPal? Do you predict a clear market leader or do you believe it will remain fragmented? |

Jobs was all about a TV though and it was in development when he died. We may all have 60" iPads soon. |
Hopefully Apple will buy the EU or US... at least one of them will end up being run in a fiscally responsible manner.
|
Samsung will buy Apple just for fun.

They should have had all games free on PC FB and then if you want to play via mobile or iPad, pay version. Words with Friends would have made quite a pretty penny. |

Thanks for asking for my input. Paypal was the first huge step in simplified personal payments. Square is still too cumbersome for the masses just to pay your mom for dinner for example. I think this will all eventually come down to mobile payment storage and can be initiated through the cell companies. They will be the winners if executed properly unless one large payment processor can cut deals with all of them for a centralized payment system.... would love it to be NETbilling :-) Imagine not only making purchases but also being able to pay people directly to their cell number from yours with just pin authentication and all billed to your cell phone bill through your credit card or without? Imagine the possibilities. Mitch |
