What separates great internet biz guys and webmasters from the rest?
I see lots of guys on this forum showing off amazing mercerdes, Bentleys, rolex watches, kick ass houses and more. Some of these webmasters have obviously been extremely successful and the internet has been very good to them. My question is this?what separates those that reach this status from the rest of us?
What do they do that low earning webmasters like myself don?t do? I couldn't afford any of those things at this point. Maybe one day I will. Who knows. But what do you think it is? Is it education that makes them that much more successful? Is it risk? Is it luck? Is it skill? Perhaps a combo? I praise these guys that have had success in any industry in the internet. Regardless what it is, so long as its ethical and it?s yours then I look up to you. Any words of wisdom for us penny pulling in people? |
Got in at the right time usually.

Sometimes it's luck or sometimes it's that they got in at the right time.
I've seen some affiliates who opened up a TGP, and by the grace of SEO by accident were driving Ferraris before they had lost their virginity. I worked for Steve Lightspeed; He had both vision and a goal, plus he had the finances to do it. |

Some are smarter, some had a big luck (usually - good starting period ), some had a big money to invest.

Just like any other business.. some people are just good at what they do. Timing isn't everything.

Somebody very successful once said - BE FOOLISH , BE BRAVE .

I remember people telling me it was all over back in 2002 :1orglaugh

Lol there was already thread with similar question.

Risk plays a big part in it. As does having necessary funds or acumen to use other peoples money. Luck shouldn't be ignored. The list is somewhat endless.
Bear in mind that not everyone who looks wealthy, is. |

Learning from your mistakes. Investing in the right things at the right time. A mix of knowledge acquired through your success and failures. Networking. Education. Skills. Knowing what is the best use of your time, and how to get the best R.O.I. for your money and efforts. Plus some level of calculated risk. :2 cents: |
Timing and execution.
|
some of it is just guts and timing. For example. I remember Mike who ran Porncity and went by the name Mayor talking about when he first started the porncity free host they ran ads for other sites at the top of all the pages. Then as traffic picked up they started pre-selling those spots and were making some good money with them. Then he decided to take the plunge and he started a couple of his own paysites and send that traffic to those sites instead of other people's and it made him a millionaire.

Just work hard. If I would have worked as hard 10 years ago as I do now, I would have been one of those millionairs. But I was a lazy fucker and thought I was going to live forever.
Now I work hard but it's harder to make money with web porn, I'm doing ok, making decent profit but not as much as I could have made 10 years ago. |

Instead I did a lot of fucking off and not working as hard as I should have. |

Now I am much harder on myself and force myself to do 2 hours of video editing per day and update my sites on a daily bases now. Sales are good, recurring billing is good but it would have been much better 10 years ago. It's even hard to get 1000 members for one site these days. The funny thing is that I'm still editing and adding material that I shot 10 to 15 years ago. Due to that my current costs are low, but I'll resume shooting new material soon, and make sure it will be good enough to impress my current and prospective members and shoot it so that it will be very easy to edit. |
Pre-checked cross sales (among some other things) made people a TON of money back in the day and did so for many years.
Start someone in today's environment and see how many achieve the success that those did before the noose tightened. It won't be many. |
magazines...$3,000...free porn is bad...

Business rule number one:
Being there. Think about :thumbsup |
Firstly don't believe all your read on boards. I've spoke to a lot of the so called big guys and it was amazing how little they were. There's a lot of PR on here to put on a front for affiliates. Go knock on their office door and see what's real.

He turned up to give a seminar dressed like a hobo. Yet told everyone he had received a 9 figure sum to invest. Anyone seen what he's done with it yet? Just one example of the smoke and mirrors, some take as fact. So to the original question. Doing something 1,000s of others can't do is paramount. Being First doesn't help much if the following month 100 copy you. I could shoot film and sell to magazines. Didn't matter that 1,000 could shoot with a digital camera when magazines were buying film. :thumbsup Doing something better than the 1,000s copying you can do. Having money to back a good idea, invest, spread around and fund growth. We can guess somewhere some money came into play with the Manwin deal. Where no one has a clue. Having good people around you. Being in the right place at the right time is only useful if you have the right skills. Having real skills and abilities that people will pay good money for. Many in online porn lack this. They're just foot soldiers. They can copy a niche, copy a site, read info online and that's it. They don't have that little extra to rise above the rest of the foot soldiers. So never will. Being able in your field to move as the markets moved. If I had stayed shooting photographs of amateurs as I was doing in 1977, I would never of grown. All the above helped me and then us. Luck is the excuse used for those who didn't make it. The harder and cleverer I worked, the luckier I got. Hard work isn't as good as clever work. |
And now you know.

As for the beautiful cars, swimming pools, houses... if you had three years with great sales you can go to the bank and get a 1 million mortgage. That doesn't make you a milionair, it makes you someone with a lot of debt. Or you can rent a Ferrari for a day for 350 euro (that's what it costs in Paris), put it in front of your house, take photos and post them on the web. |
