New to Adult Site Running
So after years of working for other people (including a few adult sites) and seeing my work generate funds for them I decided to create my own adult site (I can't post the url yet due to forum restrictions, but it's name is in my avatar). It was really nerve wracking going live and it hasn't performed the way I had hoped it would yet, but it's only been live for just under a month.
My site model is to have content providers open shops and sell their content (where I take a cut of the profits). My method of competition is to have a better user interface, better user experience, and a higher percentage of profits than some of the bigger guys out there, as well as a referral program where if one shopkeeper refers another, than the referee gets 1% of the new guy's sales for all eternity. I had a couple of really good guys lined up for my go-live date but then the merchant account provider put a crapload of restrictions on the content I could offer that eliminated over 90% of the content my guys were ready to go with. I'm still trying to find more content providers (as more content = more customers), but the Internet is vast and I don't quite know where to go or who to approach. I've tried randomly hitting up websites with content that doesn't violate my draconian merchant account rules, but with no success to date. My questions are to the veteran adult webmasters out there: 1. How long was your site up and running before you started seeing interest in your site or even minor financial returns? 2. Any good tips on finding content providers who could set up shop and make the site more enticing? Thanks for your help! I've always found that the folks who run the adult websites are some of the coolest and nicest people on the 'Net. NiCheng |

Hi NiCheng,
Sorry to hear you are having snaffoos. I haven't looked at the site yet, so I'm not sure if this is just for porn or what. Sounds like an interesting business model. If you need help with a merchant account, please feel free to contact me. Michelle Michelle at rapidfinancialsolutions dot com |

While I don't doubt that the market is somewhat saturated I'm hoping I can be innovative and fresh enough to build a solid customer base. |

Welcome to the forum :)

I can also back this one up, around 18 months before real cash started showing up!

It took me a year to even make enough to pay the $500 a month server cost. The second year I started making money and now many years later I am quite comfy. Keep at it and you will get what you want.

First of all, welcome to gfy !!!
Your questions : 1. How long was your site up and running before you started seeing interest in your site or even minor financial returns? >>Usually it totally depend on your website and pattern you took. If you have proper marketing strategies, you can go for affiliate marketing and get good outcome right from the second day of your website running. However if you are choosing SEO, then things can take time. But once they get set up and your website attain good ranking position, you will earn good amount of money without doing for the website. 2. Any good tips on finding content providers who could set up shop and make the site more enticing? Please raise a separate thread for this, I'm sure you will find few good people around gfy for the job. For any SEO related query, you are free to buzz me any time. My contact details are in my sigi. Good luck mate. |
