Merging different language sites into one
Hi all!
I have two pay sites 1 in spanish and 1 in english (i won't spam :)) 2year old domains I am now developing one single site with bilingual capabilities to unite all the content in one single domain and their divide it by categories or series etc. So: How can I approach this operation of switching both systems into one unique system while reducing the ranking harm as little as possible? Can anyone advice on how I can move towards the correct completion or maybe advice on any specific procedure I should keep in mind? Thanks people! |

Can u please elaborate? I am not sure what you mean by that or how than can backdoor my intentions of creating the multilingual site instead of keeping the two separate sites and have to divide my time in 2. thanks |
You could use the Mod_Rewrite functionality of PHP and write your site to provide 2 versions on the content depending on the URL so you could have
http://xxx.com/en/models/..... http://xxx.com/ru/models/..... then pass the variable to the pages and it renders in the correct language, just choose a default one so if the URL messes up atleast the viewer can read something.... Hope this helps Rob |
Your going to lose some of your rankings no matter what. It may be a short term loss but it may not.
