everytime i send a newsletter a few guys reply with "unsubscribe" - just as i kindly ask for in my newsletter - and it's always 1-2 women who do a spam complaint

so are they evil or just stupid?

CAN-SPAM exists regardless of your intention.

If people did not sign up, and double opt-in, to receive your emails... they could complain via SPAMCOP.

They do not personally bother me. If I do not want them, I could email you back to request removal (although you should have an unsubscribe link), or just hit 'delete' and go about my day. It's not a big deal on a single lone email from someone you have done business with in the past.

That being said, whether it's a past client, member, or whatever... you want to make sure you are follow CAN-SPAM compliance or whatever laws are applicable.

if they did not subscribe for your spam than I support them, I hate spam. Send newsletter only to those that subscribed, not to everybody like most of the spammers do.

Some people sign up other peoples email to adult newsletters as a joke, I got a ton of church emails once, luckily I caught them before I sent out my newsletter. I have a good portion of women too, that turn around and decline, figured someone was doing that to them too.

Maybe it will be good to send activation mail to avoid non authorized e-mails on newsletter.

sounds like the bf/husband signed up then claimed innocence when the missus eyed an email!
