Just back from the new Bourne movie

Nothing really to spoil. It was a bit of a let down. Some good fight scenes, but the other Bourne movies were better. It has potential for a better next one, but this one was OK at best.

Changing the actors usually kills a movie franchise.

I hear Total Recall was a flop.

Recall wasn't that bad of an action movie. You knew what it was before you got there, so it wasn't a big surprise. Bourne just never really took off. I expected it to be a lot darker and action packed, but it really wasn't. Really bad ending too.

i havent seen it yet looks decent from commercials but every action flick does

lol

I'm gonna check it out on Sunday, trailers look great and I like Jeremy Renner, I'll pop back in here with my thoughts.

Not this?

Horny Dude 08-09-2012 02:02 PM

How can you top the first three, they were great movies. I'll check it out this weekend. Without giving too much away, do they even touch on what happen to Jason Bourne or do they just not talk about him at all?

what bourne without mat damon? Shit

brassmonkey 08-09-2012 03:38 PM

too bad most directors are sticking to old shit.alot of classic stuff is remade and change the name.

Rmagnus 08-09-2012 09:47 PM

some of the scenes were shot in the Philippines...

Paul Markham 08-10-2012 02:00 AM

It was confusing at first and hard to follow. Seems the write and director were more interested in getting mountain shots than setting a plot.

When I started to understand it and it's relationship to the Bourne series, I was thinking "Why not just have a new series?" as it was such a tenuous link it made it absurd to link it to Bourne, other than disappoint a few customers.

Then it fell into the same paranoia theme as so many of these movies. Big Brother is out to get the good guys.

Plot poor. Written by a team of computers.

Action sequences, poor because they've been done so many time. The cop car chasing the bike was stupid. Cars in heavy traffic go nowhere.

digital stuff, done before.

Acting, poor no one came across as believable or even caring.

Personally we loved Ted, he was a better actor and more believable than Cross. Except for the mushy American ending it was great. :thumbsup

Without spoiling the plot... Yes, they mention him quite a bit. But it's more in a way of trying to connect Renner and what's happening currently.

Agreed. This could have been a stand alone movie with a different title. I think what made it lame was they were trying to continue Bourne and how they tried to connect it all, when this could stood on it's own and maybe made more sense if it did. Hard to follow the other Bourne movies.

Haven't seen it yet but the action sequences in the trailer looks ok.

Do they cut cinema films for violence or nudity or sex in Thailand?

Edit: or I guess for anything else, politics, religion, or whatever.

Sometimes. But it's amazing what slips through and what silly things they catch. Just when you think they will censor a movie showing a nipple slip, they will show a dick in something else. Or they will blur out someone smoking a cigarette but show tits. Or show the smokes and blur out someone drinking a beer. They will show violence but blur the gun before they shoot someone in some scenes, but show it in another. No real rhyme or reason to their madness. However, as of lately it seems they have not been censoring anything for foreign releases, which is a good thing.

helterskelter808 08-11-2012 01:00 PM

Interesting, thanks. Censorship is an inexact science I guess, and strange how different places have different ideas on what should be cut.

I'm not really a fan of violence in movies (gory or sadistic violence anyway), but it's annoying to see a film in some places and wonder if it's been cut, or even know it's been cut in parts (badly and obviously), and then wonder what else might be missing. Even with crap films I hate not seeing them as they're intended.
