I have a 4 letter brandable mainstream com domain and today I got an e-mail asking for how much I would sell it. I would like to chat over icq with someone who could give me some advice.

Well I don't want to disclose the domain here, thats why I would like to talk to someone. I remember someone from huntingmoon was posting here

Are there numbers or hyphens or is it all letters? Selling 3-4 letter domains is different than just selling a regular type in domain. Good luck.

Have you search trademark databases? If it's trademarked it won't be worth shit.

Depends on what it is and if it's a word or acronym. An acronym can be copyrighted but "only if the acronym has developed a distinct meaning, separate and apart from the underlying generic phrase."

Checked and there is no trademark.
By the way already lost one of my domains because of that despite the fact that I had this domain way before they registered the trademark, a big Man who always Wins took it.

Why would you not just post the domain and get lot of input from everyone here? First advice I'd give is to word your response in a way that elicits an offer from the other party so you know what ballpark he's playing in. Last thing you want to do is throw out an asking price that is significantly under what the other part was willing to spend. Have you done a thorough google search to see if the domain encompasses any acronyms of businesses or organizations?

Try and research the buyer. Search their email address in google and other places and see if you can find out who they are or are affiliated with. If it is CVCV it's obviously worth more than say CCCC. A nice CVCV can bring you around 5k even in the reseller market. If not a CVCV I'd try and not blow them out of the water and stay under 5k and would most likely quote them in the range of 2k and negotiate from there. The domain market isn't what it use to be and will get worse with the release of many other extensions.
