What Happened To "German Mobile Traffic is Gold"
 

Were there regulation changes again? Seems everyone has cooled their interest in German Mobile traffic.

I remember this time last year people were bidding $10 cpm on banner impressions in our network for it.

It still is gold to some :)

The German market has taken quite a hit and you will not see the numbers you once saw ever again. It's actually quite sad. Some large mobile solutions have lost their ability to work with certain telecoms, which caused for a huge loss of rebills.

Yes there was new regulations,now you need to show price to purchase and that slashed conversion rates.Atleast that's what i heard.

At this time we don't have the functionality to sell carrier based. It's being added to and will be ready in 2-3 months (we're revamping the entire system top to bottom, hence the time frame)

85% of Countries on mobile are sold at premium rates, Germany used to be in that category. That is the one good thing I will say about Mobile traffic, it sells very well. Only a few countries you can't sell like South Korea, China, Indonesia, Pakistan etc. Not very many tho :thumbsup

It's not bullshit. I earned 100 euro / 1k de redirects to brokerbabe in the last month.
now i can earn 10 euro max.

There are many reasons and it started 2011 in may when some telecommunication companies like Vodafone stopped some programm, since this time it happens again and again. But you can still make good money in germany with this.

yep DE has taken a hit for us too and Kristin is right, itll not return to its old ways but for such a heavily regulated country im surprised it lasted this long.
therell be another hot geo pretty soon though i can guarantee you that much!

so what happened exactly and which company blew the market up?

Two things happened:

1) Vodafone (one of the largest operators) cut the line access to some sponsors due to some irregularities found or at least suspected.

2) New laws and own operator regulations took effect, basically the payment flow moved from:

Visit mobile site->click on video thumb->you have subscribed to a weekly 6€ service.

To:

Visit mobile site->click on video thumb->see all the service conditions and specially the price written above everything with a HUGE font->click on a button that says "PAY"->go to new screen explaining again the service and the price in a HUGE font->click again on a button that says "are you sure you want to PAY?"->then you subscribe.

Imagine the conversion ratio drop after that change in the flow.

I won't name the sponsors as i have a good relationship with them and even friendship. Also none of us were saying anything about their practices when we were banking on it.

The German golden rush is over and won't ever be back again. You can still make money, but way harder than before. I have paid up to $75 per k in the past, no more than $20 now and depending on the operator.
