Don't care if they go out of bussiness since they betrayed the file sharing community.

I think they waited just enough to get their Paypal reserve paid to them, and closed up shop. Not that it matters much at this point in practical sense because they disabled file sharing long time ago, but as a symbolic act, it is still nice to see them disappearing finally.

RegUser 09-01-2012 07:22 AM

went to hell? what nonsense.
I dont think they went to hell, they are enjoying themseleves on a beach somewhere.
They got it best - made tonnes of money, closed shop and walked away.

Horny Dude 09-01-2012 08:38 AM

Rapidgator and Extabit seem to be the new big guys on the block. You also see Turbobit, but they block US traffic.

mOrrI 09-01-2012 08:39 AM

I think they can't shut them all down...

DWB 09-01-2012 08:43 AM

Awwww, did the Mansef file sharing sites go bye bye?

Wonder what sort of theft Yooooosef will get into now.

CashGina 09-01-2012 09:01 AM

fris 09-01-2012 10:22 AM

filesonic went to shit cause only sharing was allowed between users, not on a global front

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what the root cause of file locker closures is.

Enabling online piracy on a commercial basis is not a viable business model in the long term as eventually lawsuits, payment processing terminations or criminal proceedings will result in closure of the site.

We have had extensive discussions with the major credit card companies, Paypal and other payment systems. In those discussions one thing is clear, all of these payment systems are completely fed up dealing with file lockers and similar sites because of the brand risk and eventual problems these sites cause.

There are many groups working on tackling this issue and this year has seen a confluence of events which put even greater pressure on this business model.
