We now have prohibition in Czech Republic - no more hard liquor anywhere...
http://rt.com/news/czech-alcohol-pro...poisoning-188/
after 19 people died from methanol poisoning, you now cannot buy anything over 20% anymore - not in supermarkets, not in bars, clubs - nowhere. the shelves in the supermarkets are empty and last night at the clubs people were drinking wine and beer instead of shots and longdrinks. i wonder for how long this will go before someone freaks out because he didnt get his vodka :upsidedow |
Wow, over reacting isn't just restricted to the US.

We might have to cancel our flights and gumball rally a bunch of booze to Prague. Could be a lot of money to be made. Slanging bottles of vodka to all the drunks in Prague. :pimp |
The Czech Republic has prohibited the sale of hard liquor after 19 people died and dozens were poisoned by methanol-laced bootleg vodka and rum.
Ban commercial liquor because of bad bootleg liquor? If no commercial liquor wouldn't there be more bootleg liquor? The ban covers the sale of any drink containing more than 20 percent alcohol. If the ban covers liquor with over 20%, what about under 20%? |
Teencat must have gone into seclusion or he's got the DT's :Oh crap
have luck! |

smart move, someone to make fortune under the desk :D

but under 20% its mostly wine and beer and thats probably too cheap to bootleg edit: also if you took all alcohol away from the czech people, you would have a revolution within 48 hours |
Maybe now I'll start to understand what teencat is posting at night.

What the fuck!?!?
This is bad news, indeed. Brad |

For example, in my country all strong alcohol drinks (more than 5%) can be sold in big shops only, and from 10 AM to 11 PM (in some places to 9 PM) only. |

So the amount of bootlegged alcohol now skyrockets, causing even more deaths. Who the fuck decided this was a good response? |
Methanol poisoning reminded me Russia of the middle 90s.
|
Okay - the most important question - can I load up at duty free at the airport and bring it in to the country???

but dont tell me there is no possibility how to get around such restriction in Russia and ex-SSSR states....I already now, that i will be able to get hard alcohol in Czech republic at bars where they know me by face.... |

I am sure clubs and bars stocked well
|
the prohibition is only temporary, so if the situation is resolved, everything will be back to normal.. this is already a hard hit to the czech economy (tax from alcohol), so it wont last long....
|
That's not prohibition - they can still sell booze. Just not the stuff that can kill you.
|
Damn I would go crazy :)

Well, I will say that I *dont want to die* while I'm in Czech.. lol
Prohibition has different meanings depending what country you are in. In the US, if there was 'prohibition' on something it would mean that it couldn't be bought, sold or in your possession.. See everyone in Czech! Brad |
people... its only temporary... governments here in eastern EU depends highly on alcohol tax income ;)
