1$ 8 meals?
|
Because they buy in massive quantities?
$1 = 8 meals = 12 cents per meal. Rice for example is around $1 per pound when purchased in bulk. 1lb of rice is about 450 grams, a serving of rice is about 50 grams. So there are 9 servings per pound of rice. That means each serving is a cost of 11 cents. Bam, there you go. And that was off the top of my head real quick. I'm sure their system is way more complicated. |
Sly was posting how he could eat for 20$/week. It was pretty cheap, and it comes to 1$ per meal. And that is 8 times cheaper. Even considering buying in huge bulk it still is very cheap. Unless they count only rice as a "meal" :)
Anyway I hope its not one of those charities where only 5% of the money goes to the cause :) |
