Question about nofollow tags
Hello friends,
I have a doubt and maybe someone can help me with this... I have read in many websites with articles about SEO that google recommends adding the rel="nofollow" to all affiliated links and other website links that we did linkexchange. What do you think about this? Do you use this practices in your websites? And what they mean with affiliated links? adultfriendfinder.com, nastydollars.com etc... Right? Should I add this tag in all this links in my websites? P.S. I also read that Google does not care anymore if a link is nofollow or not. Is this true? Thank you for your help guys! |
I can't remember which video it is, but you should be able to see some videos here of Matt Cutts(from google) talking about this: https://youtube.com/results?searc....1.AKHcsWFJyRE.
Basically when you link to site, its almost like giving it a vote, or saying I have confidence in this site. The more google likes your site, the more this 'vote' will count for. If you use no follow, your saying you don't want to pass any credit to this site. Persoanlly I have never used nofollow as I have never had a reason to. |
Yes, adding nofollow is for affiliate links like from adultfriendfinder etc. I do it and I know that many people too. Add dofollow tags only to those links where you want to pass your site's link juice. Pointing to malicious sites with dofollow tag can hurt you. I think that G cares about it.
