you require permission from administrators to make changes to this folder

I can't get rid of this! I'm trying to delete some maps on an old HD and it just won't let me. I spent the last 20 minutes reading about it and tried everything that was suggested and nothing works. I changed all the permissions to allow Admin as well as the computer user to delete whatever needs to be deleted yet it keeps saying this.

Any suggestions?

Besides format c:

This may be a stupid question but did you try running explorer or cmd as administrator then deleting or deleting from the cmd line?

there is a small free app online: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...menu-in-vista/

works great, sometimes across a network it can be iffy

Well, although the program installs fine and it seems to change ownership i still get the same error when trying to delete the folder...crazy...

I hope it works in DOS.

mount the drive in some other OS? make yourself a bootable linux cd and boot from that, then you should be able to edit anything...

Dirty F 09-25-2012 10:36 AM

Well fuck it, i'm gonna copy everything i still need to another drive and then format c:
It's prob 10 times faster than figuring this shit out.

I would just reboot the machine, that will probably work. if you know what thread is holding on shut that thread down on processes

Mounting and unmounting with a live CD works about half of the time for me, though. Booting on another Win install from another HD or partition works best.

In Soviet Russia you control Windows.
