Question about index pages, seo and pagerank
 

Let's say I have a site...

example

www.sampledomain.com/ is a pr2

and

www.sampledomain.com/index.cfm is a pr4

how can I combine the two index page results to maximize the results?

looks problematic I wonder what other webmasters think of having 2 visibile homepages

what I wonder about is how Google looks at this

I wonder what that does as well

Why not do a simple 301 redirect?

A 301 and/or a canonical to indicate which of the two URL's is the one that should be considered the original to be indexed. This will eliminate any confusion.

You could also do a 301 rewrite rule as well.

On a side note, it doesn't matter anymore unless it is a site that surfers spend a lot of time on with many, many updates (ie a tube).
