Looks like another example of government inefficiency. Why waste money on 16 rounds per second, when you can go big and do 16,000 rounds per second? Just to fire that thing for a minute would probably cost more than most people make in a year.

How would the logistics of carrying and reloading ammo for that thing work?

That's been around for over a decade. They even have remote triggered perimeter defense systems deployed by the military as well as mounted as anti-missile defense systems on aircraft carriers and destroyers.

I was about to say the same thing. Nothing new at all with metalstorm. From a single shot hand gun to full arrays mounted on planes and everything in between.
It's basically a type of bullet that's fired by electric charge..
