EddyTheDog 10-31-2012 07:40 AM

I don't think they actually 'cancel' it! :)

Might be a bit quiet though.

Nah. The grownups went out Saturday night to the parties. In fact, we had to stop and get gas and everyone at the gas station getting gas was all dressed up. It was kind of funny really.

it is weird the way you guys go so hell for leather over halloween. over here it's hardly a thing at all, and if it is, it's for kids.

BIGTYMER 10-31-2012 08:05 AM

I think they were going to reschedule it.

It's fun... live a little Damian! I don't dress up every year but when I do I go all out. Chicago definitely is high on the list of Halloween crazy cities. It's a freakshow in our neighborhood.

Halloween has become just as much of an excuse for adults to have crazy parties as it is for kids trick or treating....

I, for one, have no problem with that.

Gov. Chris Christie via Twitter.
?If conditions are not safe on Wednesday for Trick or Treating, I will sign an Executive Order rescheduling?

Halloween is big business in the US

National Retail Federation says,
"... total Halloween spending expected to reach $8.0 billion."

Only a politician would think they actually have the power to reschedule a tradition dating back hundreds if not thousands of years. Why not tell the kids Santa isn't coming this year as well.

This politician does have the power to reschedule Trick-Or-Treating, which is usually scheduled based on city needs anyway, though.

Yeah they tried that before in my town. They figured it would be better the weekend before or after if it fell on a weekday so they passed some silly law and made the announcement that everyone should go out on such and such Saturday. It was a flop and actually made things worse because you then had two nights of handing out candy.

The problem here is that he believes he needs to tell people what to do. Sorry but I think most people understand that if the neighborhood is covered with fallen trees then hmm you might not want to send a bunch of kids down through there. Outside of that there is no reason behind it other than some politician "believing" he has sort of say in the matter. The "executive order" part is a hoot. What is he going to do if people don't follow his "order"?

You must live in a crazy rebellious town that does whatever it wants, whenever it wants. Every city that I have ever lived in has had no problem with a designated, safe trick-or-treat night.

Taking your kids to the mall on another night for trick or treating is one thing. But trying to change the holiday itself and how people celebrate it is another. Again no matter what he "executive orders" people are going to do whatever they want to do anyway and what WILL happen is you will have two nights to worry about whatever it is you are suppose to be worried about. He's just strokin his ego a bit too much.

I don't live in some crazy rebellious town. I live in the bible belt and the Christians like to think they run this place and they are the driving force behind silly ideas such as the changing of Holidays to suit their needs and beliefs. If we tried changing Christmas to another day all hell would break loose. Because after all Jesus was (n't) born that day.

I would think that there are far more important things to take care of first

It's when women dress up like sluts for no reason. How can you not encourage that?

Rochard 10-31-2012 01:14 PM

And here is the official answer:

Chris Christie moves Halloween in New Jersey to next Monday by executive order

Scott McD 10-31-2012 01:33 PM

Spunky 10-31-2012 01:35 PM
