Laptop Suggestions?

I don't want an Apple. I have had my Toshiba for 6-7 years basically no problems. Should I get another Toshiba or what is good now a days? Looking to spend under $2k on it. I don't need it for any heavy editing just updating sites from time to time.

freecartoonporn 11-08-2012 08:54 AM

lenovo rocks these days

AllAboutCams 11-08-2012 08:58 AM

Stay with Toshiba. Great laptops and the battery life is outstanding.

Really? I've owned over 20 different laptops and besides Mac the Samsung has been the most reliable of them all.

Have had both the i3 and i5. Haven't tried toshiba / Fujitsu since the pentium4's came out and those were disasters with nice screens

ManicaMark 11-21-2012 03:39 AM

Don't get an ASUS! The screen has gone on the last 3 I've had (yeah I don't learn) and they were all less than 3 years old.

I bypassed everything, and here here my answer for you.....go with a tablet, laptop, and cellphone...google and android platform for everything.

bbobby86 11-21-2012 04:42 AM

Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Dell...

HomerSimpson 11-21-2012 04:51 AM

Well it all depends on price range / series, but I recommend Lenovo, Dell or HP...

javinder_mn 11-21-2012 05:29 AM

cant go wrong with a toshiba, the usually come loaded with harmon/kardon sound these days too.

sony vaios are a bit overpriced but I've had mine for the last 4 years and its been good to me. I had an Acer before that which was pretty reliable too

avoid hp like the clap

Denny 11-21-2012 05:55 AM

Lenovo, Dell, HP

BradBreakfast 11-21-2012 06:18 AM

HP Elitebook ... whatever you choose make sure it has a HIGH RESOLUTION screen!

Si 11-21-2012 06:30 AM

From my experiences (old to new):

Medion: lasted a long time but was prone to conflicts and blue screens.

Toshiba: Fan dead, overheating, broken power supply (my fault, too much movement on the lead) but poor design, still works though (slowly)

Acer: 3 X useless batteries, they are no longer portable for any longer than 10-30 minutes. But other than that they have been super reliable for me.

I'm going to go with Lenovo, Dell, or Sony for my next one to try out a different brand.

I know people who have had Compaqs last really well with few problems. HP seem to be a little bit too unreliable but I've never personally owned one.

Go to TigerDirect I got my sony viao I think under $800.00 a couple of years ago and hasn't let me down like the others I had!

jimmycastor 11-21-2012 06:39 AM

sony z series, lil bit more expensive but slim, fast and allways half a y year ahead to other brands
comes close to desktop power

dissapointed with lenovo core i7, display and keytype sucks, no fun
and weights much more and less power

EddyTheDog 11-21-2012 06:56 AM

I have seen a few Toshibas and they always feel 'solid' to me and have heard good things.

I am on an Acer at the moment, but only because I got it at a ridiculously low price.

Pay twice as much and buy an Apple. It won't be any better but you will look awesome at Starbucks.

I got toshibas for the last two laptops and the only reason I ever stopped using them was for upgrades. Just solid machines that don't die.

potter 11-21-2012 07:20 AM

omg How could you keep a laptop for 6-7 years? That is insane.

JesseQuinn 11-21-2012 11:25 AM

Asus. Best laptop I've ever had. I work it to death and it just keeps going.

I had a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop for over eight years, but finally got myself a powerful new Sager laptop that is my main computer for communication now.

idolbucks 11-21-2012 02:21 PM

Thinkpad IPS or Samsung thin series
