Can moving hosts hurt SEO...

Does moving hosts hurt SEO? I am planning on moving some 1 page html pages that I have on one host and moving them to a new one so that I may put some full blogs on them with 20 plus posts each. Can this hurt the domains? They only get less than 50-100 hits a month so it's not much traffic but the domains are 3-5 years old. Does this plan sound like a good or bad idea?

AdultEUhost 11-10-2012 09:05 AM

Doesn't matter anything, see http://support.google.com/webmasters...20&ctx=top ic

Unless you completely fuck up whatever on-page SEO you currently have, switching your site from one page to a deeper site can only help.

freecartoonporn 11-10-2012 09:42 AM

only for short period of time.,but it will gain to its position back in no time.

CaptainWolfy 11-10-2012 10:01 AM

you are talking about seo with 300-500 uniqs monthly?
if you just switch hosts you won't be seeing difference but if you change the page you will certainly see drop and if it's for better your will see rise of the traffic in a month or so..

Colmike9 11-10-2012 10:06 AM

I would just be lazy and keep the index how it is and create some subdomain blogs on that domain or subfolder wpmu..

But if it's only getting 50-100 hits/month, don't worry about that and just do the site redesign how you want. Then do SEO again.

baddog 11-10-2012 10:26 AM

Can it? Sure. Will it? Not always. I would not do a redesign and a move at the same time.

I do this as a hobby and I make money doing so. You're plain old insulting and if you have a bunch of handles then so be it. But who ever you are and under this handle you have contributed zero to the community.

Excuse me while I go back to enjoying my weekend.

Why not a redesign and a move at the same time?

Variable isolation so you can see what change impacted the results.

Might give the impression it is under new ownership, so whatever trust level it had can be diminished; and what Sly said.

Good calls! Just thought of something. Maybe moving them and building the blog on an internal directory. Leaving the html page as is on index. Just add a link to the /blog/ to the homepage. :)

jimmycooper 11-10-2012 04:56 PM

Variable isolation? Even if he was asking how to test, those sites don't get enough traffic to do a statistically relevant test. Even if you run it with 10,000 sites, the results would be highly skewed. It would be an epic waste of time.

mce 11-10-2012 05:04 PM

No it shouldn't hurt it.

wehateporn 11-10-2012 05:25 PM

Speed of the host comes into this, so yes :2 cents:

scottybuzz 11-10-2012 06:12 PM

what about the overlap of the change in the dns settings?

V_RocKs 11-10-2012 06:36 PM

50 to 100 hits a month and we are worried about SEO?

Is this a joke?

In case you didn't notice, this is actually pretty big for most GFYers these days.
Check that hosting thread, most are paying < 50 bucks a month.

Not a joke at all. It's not the amount of hits its the ranking for a keyword. My ROI for the domain is probably 400% :) Which means I prob made 65 dollars. LOL I know its not much but eitherway, I havent done anything in 3 years to make 180.00

beks001 11-10-2012 10:42 PM

Thats 65 this year...180 in total over 3 years.

that's not bad

IMHO, SEO is more about quality than quantity . . . especially in the beginning stages. Numbers come with time
