Ever encode lots of Gigabytes in the wrong codec? Waste, ugh.
 

Using JWplayer and not being able to figure out why only sound was playing and not video, I finally read a post that said that you need H.264 and not the MPEG4 Video Codec.

40 GB of video conversions down the drain. :disgust

Live and learn, cpu waste not too much of my time wasted, still though.

If you have a nvidia video card dont forget to use cuda to save a lot of time

That reminds me of the annoying time when I rendered a 3d animation for days but forgot to have an output file saved..

A lot of video software products out there now add support for nvidia. This machine has an integrated graphics card on this machine, so doesn't work. Luckily multithreaded conversions can occur on this machine.

I've had all kinds of things happen. The worst was bricking a 2 TB hard drive and a 1.5 TB Hard drive that was completely formatted with TrueCrypt. Meaning even after the drive was reformatted I kept getting CRC errors, I really couldn't find anything like it online.
Now I just keep small personal files in small volumes, isn't worth the risk again.
No need for large amounts of encryption but I still get embarrassed if guests see some of my porn files on the computer :D

Luckily most of the files were redundant but it reminds me to be very careful about certain things.

Sorry I only use that computer for work so you can't use it. Problem solved.

Or even easier create a guest account.

when i first started , i encoded like 15 gb stuff with mpeg4 uploaded it , only to find it doesnt work, then again encoding and uploading, sucks....and my app wasnt using cuda double sucks
