One of the all time greats. RIP

When I was a little kid learning to play rock guitar, I heard Dave Brubeck's "Take 5" and felt that jazz music could really be cool too, and so began my lifelong love of jazz... RIP Dave Brubeck ADG |

RIP Dave - i'm a sax player, was anyway until wasn't much to do with it after i finished school. Paul Desmond was an amazing alto sax player, nobody else had that breathy sound you hear on Take 5 and no teacher would encourage a sax student to emulate it, that's Desmond's tune, he wrote it, maybe improvised it.
Phil Woods was my favorite sax man. |
Thanks for all you've given, Mr. Brubeck.

He was truly remarkable. Had a chance to meet him once when I worked in the record industry {early 80's}, and he was very classy, as well of course brilliantly talented!
RIP Mr. Brubeck! |
