Apache and PHP are installed natively on OS X, so I enabled them (one line in each case). MySQL, I installed as a service. WordPress and BuddyPress are installed locally, as are two unit testing suites. Git and Subversion, of course.

Other than that, I use the Edgeprod.com dedicated server for most of my testing, so that I can 'soft launch' projects without having to host them locally.

Several wordpress example sites for people and lots of homemade scripts with names that won't mean anything to anyone except me.

Locally on my Mac I have TextMate as my editor of choice, Sequel Pro for MySQL management and Transmit as my FTP setup.

Server side I have Nginx, PHP-FPM, MySQL, Node.js and MongoDB installed along with a base CodeIgniter system that is referenced by all apps on the server.

Try PhpStorm. Browse to an action, and do COMMAND-B on it. It'll take you to the method declaration, to the class, or super-class. Now hit ALT-COMMAND-LEFT_ARROW .. you'll go back. I use that one function CONSTANTLY.

Tried IDE's just not my cup of tea... I like the simplicity of just typing and not having anything get in my way.

Yeah same here, while i do use netbeans for projects notepad++ still serve the purpose for quick coding. But seems that phpstorm is indeed best ide,it is constantly recommended by people but since netbeans do the job no point to bother with it.
