Internet on your tv?

So how does it work? You want to watch a vid on youtube or visit an url. How do you type it in? Do you get a keyboard with it?

bronco67 12-10-2012 01:05 PM

What kind of TV do you have? Does it have internet apps?

My Vizio has Youtube, Amazon Video, etc.

He probably doesn't even have a flat screen tv.

Evil Chris 12-10-2012 03:34 PM

I use my PS3 to browse YouTube once in awhile.

I prefer browsing the internet alone in a corner. To have it splashed on my television is terrifying. Do I REALLY want my (twenty-plus-year-old) adult kids watching me surf the internet? No. Do I really give a shit about what they do? No. Get off my television. I want to watch M*A*S*H reruns. You try to use my television for the internet and you have a problem.

Its embarrassing how many retards are willing to huddle around a television set watching each other play CityVille or FarmVille2.

Internet on your television will soon be the single largest reason for divorce. Hey, mom! Dad's chatting with an 18 year old from Davao! And what IS this Chaterbate thing, anyway?

You want this:

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...amily/apple_tv

This is a tiny little device that plugs into your TV. With it you can watch youtube, Netflix and other providers. Endless movies and tv shows, all legal. It also sees your home computer and lets you stream content off of it. HD Video and audio quality when used with HDMI. Best of all it's only $99.

My 47'' Vizio in Florida, as well as the samsung 3D smart DVD, does not have the internet browser . It has a lot of apps, and you can type from the bluetooth remote control sliding keyboard.

In Montreal, I have a Bravia 3D Sony 55'' and that one has an actual internet browser .. pretty cool.

Remember old school text messaging? click the number 3 times to get to the letter / number? Like that and it is fucked !

Plus it is slow as all fuck and their browser / apps are gigantic pieces of shit.

The dog ate the cat...that ate the mouse.

And I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

Nicky 12-10-2012 08:34 PM

Right now I just have my laptop hooked up to the tv via hdmi and a wireless keyboard/mouse, works good enough.

V_RocKs 12-10-2012 09:06 PM

I used to have a computer sitting around collecting dust... I didn't even know it worked...

Turns out it did... I threw a graphics card with HDMI output into it and bought some cheesy switcher from Radio Shack for $16.

Plugged the output from STB into the switcher and the computer into the switcher, then the switcher into the TV...

Now when I want to get on the TV and look up shit on the net I pull out the $30 logitech wireless keyboard mouse combo I got at Staples and start surfing... After hitting the A button on the switcher remote of course...

Get my NFL, NHL, etc on the Internet. Get Dexter and Homeland too...

With my Amazon Prime account I get all kinds of shit on demand for free...

Got a spare piece of shit computer lying around? If not...

http://www.amazon.com/MK802-Android-.../dp/B008BFXOZE

$36 for one the size of a USB stick...

I've been watching YouTube via Wii for about a week - pretty slick really. Probably better to find channels to subscribe to on computer first to then go to them on TV, but even if you don't, the Wii at least does have a wireless keyboard you can get for it if you need to type stuff without pulling your hair out.
