Stats only go back to 1963 but still that is pretty amazing. Just an interesting aside, the population in 1963 was pretty close to what it is now.

I remember going into NYC in the 1970s when I was a kid - it was scary. On the highway there would be burnt out cars every mile or so. They've come a long way since then.
