** GUNS ** Another Gun Thread - Points to ponder

I live in the Midwest, in a suburb of a major city. Population of 134,746.

CCW is easy to get, but unneeded as we have both open carry and peaceable journey statutes.

I don't open carry, but I do use the peaceable journey law to my benefit. I carry a loaded handgun in my vehicle at all times. Again, this is permitted by law, no ccw required, and I don't know many who don't carry a loaded firearm in their vehicle.

Now let's take a look at gun related homicides from the city I live in:

The majority of us are armed. Everyone knows this. As a result, you very rarely find yourself in any type of conflict in public. There seems to be an unstated mutual respect, as everyone is aware that the person you are dealing with is most likely armed.

Thoughts?

That can't be right!

What can't be right? Are you doubting me? I did just notice an error in my post. I stated "gun" related homicides, yet posted the totals for all homicides.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I sort of picked where I lived. I had to move to this area for Playboy, but I had wide range of what city I could live in. The choice that I made was because of a factor of a low crime rate and good schools - two things that were important for me.

I drive by your neighborhood all the time. There are a couple of great cafes just down the road, plus I'm often in Roseville, so the route goes right by. I'll wave later tonight when I go home.

Your little town has plenty of CCW carriers, by the way. And a gun range that's pretty popular.

My thought is that a society in 2012 has seriously derailed when everyone feels they need a gun with them and thinks thats a sensible way to live.

Nevada has the same laws. I have a CCW but do I ever actually carry concealed? Who knows? If you run around blabbing your mouth about carrying a gun it's not really concealed anymore. I just answer "No" if anyone ever asks me if I'm carrying a weapon as it's not their business and I have a permit to legally carry it if/when I want to. Whether I am actually carrying or not... is only my business. (Unless asked by a law enforcement officer carrying out his/her official duty)

However, when practicing open carry, you dont get that luxury.

What is your point? Yes, the 2nd Amendment gives the people the right to form militias if necessary to secure the free state.

Militia: a body of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers.

I'm guessing you thought militia meant the federal/national military? lol
