I'm very curious about his latest flick, MAMA. That looks a bit interesting.
Del Toro's Devil's Backbone remains a favorite as well. Still gives me chills.

Disclaimer: I don't like horror much. But Guillermo del Toro made cool stuff. Pans Labyrinth the most cool still imho. He put hands in The Hobbit too, even I can't notice it. His skill, he make a different style of monsters, you can see some interesting ones in Hellboy but mostly in Hellboy II, but I like only monsters not the movie as a whole for Hellboy. If you want to see some earlier odd horroro work of him look Cronos (1993) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104029/ , again there I like just the monster-machine idea only. The guy is mexican, if you want to see older south american (Chile) directed odd horror-surrealism there's the sacred mountain (1973), imho one of top movies ever made (and i'm picky) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071615/ by Alejandro Jodorowsky http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alejandro_Jodorowsky , the guy made also a more horror thing later: Santa Sangre (1989) www.imdb.com/title/tt0098253/ even again I prefer less bloody stuff myself, the guy is genius and Santa Sangre is preferite movie of some Heavy/Death metal friend of mine.
