Any actor as good as DiCaprio when choosing roles?
 

Out of the last 10 or so dicaprio movies at least 9 of them were very good.
Any actors close to that? Which ones are known for good role selection as well?

Agree on Brad Pitt, as for Tom Cruise, I will have to inspect more, I did not see many late movies with him.

Ok so almost every A+ list star. Lets change the question to which A+ star has pretty bad selection. If there are any.

John Travolta. Whenever he gets back to A he makes really bad choices and goes back down the ranks.

Tom Hanks (forget Joe vs. The Volcano, though).

A classic in its own way and if Bachelor Party and Dragnet stay in, so does it.

Johnny Depp suits perfectly all the insane roles he gets.
The good thing is they are always really different roles, one thing in common :
always playing the crazy character.

totally agree with DiCaprio, but Tom Cruise? His modern films are awful.
high budget disappointments.
his old stuff is untouchable though.

Tom hanks ftw, he has done every kind of Genre you can imagine, Big, Road to Perdition, Saving Private Ryan, I don't think any actor has covered as many bases as Tom Hanks, I forgot Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, he has done all sorts.. Leonardo is awesome to but i think Hanks tops him

Ving Rhames. Only actor I have seen that can star in a mission impossible movie one week, only to follow it up with a zombie movie made for the scifi channel the next week. He's almost become a b movie actor. He doesnt seem to refuse any role.

I pretty much ignore any film if it has Will Smith in it.

And after checking imdb Harrison Ford falls in the same category.

All Tom Cruise films suck.

Jodie Foster seems to pick interesting roles a does Charlize Theron (to mention a few women).

Steve Buscemi.

This minus the French dude I never head of and adding in Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks and I'd say Jamie Foxx too, most of his movies are pretty good.

How has Daniel Day Lewis not been mentioned yet? This guy doesn't take many movie roles because the ones he does take he gets so involved in the character. He's money!

As for Will Smith - he stared in many good movies, but also starred in shittu ones like men in black. I can not imagine diCaprio or Johny Depp in crap movie like that. Of course its a franchise movie so may be understandable.

Denzel - yes, I do not remember bad movies with him.

Sean Penn - same.

He is nowhere A+ list, I had to yahoo him :)

Ps: Bruce Willis acted in many crap movies..

I Enjoy some of his work but 95% of his good roles are with his pal Burton
