National id card

Some Senators, including John McCain, are considering requiring a national biometric ID card for all workers - including citizens - as part of an immigration reform bill.

Exactly, but try doing it in the US and it's a step towards totalitarianism.

pornguy 02-22-2013 10:44 AM

Hope they dont. Should be a state by state thing.

Barefootsies 02-22-2013 10:46 AM

I believe we already have something of this nature.... It's called a passport. At least if you do any real traveling.

I guess the difference is a card versus a book, and voluntary versus mandatory.

:2 cents:

i thought about suing our government once, for holding me hostage by making me pay for a passport......i know it's stupid, but it is kinda true.

My only issue with National ID, is I'm sure they won't use the govt. infrastructure that we have in place for our 2 federal ids(passports and SS cards) but certain they will create a whole new dept wasting millions if not billions annually to put it in place.

you better make sure to pay every traffic ticket and dont get in any trouble. they can just walk around malls and sit on traffic streets scanning cards to see if your riding dirty. :helpme

Every day we are becoming more "big brother-ish".

I no longer have to put my key in my car. I just walk up to it and it unlocks for me, and then I push button to start it - so long as I have my key FOB in my pocket. It's only a matter of time before we have a chip implanted in us that will open up our doors, run our cars, access our computers and bank accounts. We'll see this all in our lifetimes.

i saw a guy on shark tank the tv show. he developed something like the car device it unlocks your doors turns on your lights and stuff. i think it activates your home security when you leave.

that stuff is all old school by now, yesterday my car broke down, I called the number to have it towed and the computer voice said it would tell the tow driver where my car was based on where I was standing using my cell phone. It just asked if I was standing next to my car and if it was ok to use my phone to tell him where I was LOL, think of how that can be abused

who gives a fuck.

most everyone is fingerprinted and you're carrying around your fingerprints for them to find you based on everything you touch.

drivers licenses these days do the same thing too.

passport is the same thing. it tracks everything with RF.

jesus, just don't do illegal shit and no one will fuck with you.

the chip can be scanned remotely. big ass difference :2 cents: yeah just think if you forget to pay a ticket and they scan you at a grocery store and you have a warrant. simple error free trip to jail.

DWB 02-22-2013 12:33 PM

Much of the rest of the world already has them. I don't have a problem with the card, but as Wizzo said, the Gov waste on this will be the only real issue.

I think it's called "keyless go". It's awesome. No need to pull out my remote control car key any more so long as it's on me. Car automatically unlocks, and starts up by pushing a button.

This will become the standard for cars soon. Jaguar, MB, Jeep, Chrylser, Dodge are doing it; I'm sure others too.

Except it isn't an 'error free' trip to jail because you broke the law in getting the ticket to begin with.
